Introduction To
The Roses
The rose is a fragrant and beautiful flowering
plant belonging to the Rosaceae family. It
has been cultivated for thousands of years
and is used for various purposes, including
symbolism, medicine, and perfumes. Roses
are popular in various cultures.
Indian Culture • Divine and Mystical: In
Hindu mythology, the goddess Lakshmi is
believed to have emerged from a rose,
signifying beauty, wealth, and prosperity.•
Symbol of Love and Devotion: Roses are
frequently used in religious ceremonies and
are offered to deities as an expression of
devotion.

ANATOMY OF ROSE
The rose is an ornamental shrub/bush with upright or climbing stems usally prickly.
Leaves - are alternate , compound, oddly pinnate with stipules adherent to the leaf stalk.
Flowers - are solitary [single] or in corymbs [cluster]
Clayx - five lobed, lobes either simple or compound.
Petals & Sepals - are generally five, Rosa sericea has only four petals ans sepals.
Carpels - many, inserted at the base of calyx tube and with simple projecting style and stigma.
Fruits - known as hip/heps contains many seeds and are rich in Vit, C, A, B , K & E.
Seeds - Are hard and fresh seeds have dormacy

Conditions :

them produce lush foliage and abundant blooms. Here's what you'll
need to create the ideal set up. Sunlight: Roses need at least 6-8
hours of direct sunlight daily.Morning sunlight is particularly beneficial
as it helps dry leaves and prevent diseases. In hot climates, some
afternoon shade can protect roses from extreme heat.2. Soil: They
prefer well-drained, loamy soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.Good
drainage is essential to prevent root rot, and soil rich in organic
matter, like compost, will improve structure and nutrientcontent.3.
Water: Deep, consistent watering is essential for roses, especially in
dry periods. Water the base of the plant directly to avoid wetting
leaves, as wet foliage can encourage fungal disease
