The Hindrance……..
Are you a non-ECE/EEE/EE student?
• Electrical concepts play vital role in all engineering disciplines and vice-
versa too. Computers consist of analog and digital circuits which further
contain semiconductors and electrical components like diodes, transistors,
resistors, capacitors. Computers won’t work without them. Hence
computer and IT engineers must posses basic knowledge about circuits.
Are you a student of ECE, EEE or EE branch?
• Students will be extending this knowledge in the coming years of
engineering.
Seems irrelevant for those studying computer,
mechanical and civil engineering.

IEEE standard symbols for
Electrical Quantities
• Instantaneous values of current, voltage & power, that
vary with time, are represented by the lower case
letter of the proper symbol.
• Examples: i, v, p
• Maximum (peak), average (direct current) and root
mean square values of current, voltage and power are
represented by upper case letter of the appropriate
symbol.
• Examples: I, V, P
