Transfer Function

This document summarizes a course on examples of transfer functions. It outlines topics to be covered including RLC circuits in the time and frequency domains, the definition and derivation of transfer functions using impedance approaches and circuit equivalences, and applications to op-amp circuits. The goal is to describe how circuits process inputs to produce outputs through an analysis of voltages, currents, impedances and derivation of transfer functions in the Laplace domain.

Definition of Transfer Function

Transfer Function is the ratio of the output of a system to the input of a system, in the Laplace domain considering its initial conditions to be zero.

Definition of Transfer Function

Transfer Function reveals how the circuit modifies the input amplitude in creating output amplitude. Therefore, transfer function describes how the circuit processes the input to produce output.

Impedance approach
Impedance Z(s) of a passive circuit is the ratio of the Laplace Transform of voltage across the circuit to the Laplace transform of the current through the circuit under the assumption of zero initial conditions.
