The Mountaineers faced off against No. 75 Kansas State University at Mike Gross Tennis Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas, on Saturday, losing 4-3.

In doubles, graduate student Ting-Pei Chang and junior Tatiana Lipatova lost to Jillian Harkin and Manami Ukita, 6-3.

Junior Michaela Kucharova and senior Momoko Nagato defeated Veronika Kulhava and Tereza Polakova, 6-3, putting the Mountaineers on the board for doubles.

Freshman Maya Bordereau and redshirt sophomore Maja Dodik were up 5-3 before falling behind and losing the match to Maralgoo Chogsomjav and Maria Santos, 7-6(1). The Wildcats secured the doubles point.

In singles, Bordereau fell, 6-2, in the first set to Charlotte Keitel. In the second set, Keitel clutched a 6-4 victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Lipatova cruised in the first set over Santos, 6-1. She claimed the second set, 6-3, to secure a win for WVU, 6-1, 6-3.

Dodik fell short in the first set to Chogsomjav, 6-4. In the second set, Chogsomjav clutched the 6-1 win, securing another victory for the Wildcats at 6-4, 6-1.

Kucharova took the first set over Polakova 6-3. She followed her first set with another 6-3 set win to secure a 6-3, 6-3 match victory.

Nagato won the first set over Kulhava 6-4. In the second set, Nagato secured the match for the Mountaineers, 6-4, 6-3, and tied up the overall score, 3-3.

Graduate student Love-Star Alexis dropped the first set to Vanessa Suarez, 6-3, before winning the second set, 6-4. In the third set battle, Suarez won 6-4 for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win and an overall victory for the Wildcats.

WVU will be returning home to host Kansas on Friday, April 5, at 5 p.m.
