U.S.-Africa Clean Tech Energy Network (CTEN)

The U.S.-Africa Clean Tech Energy Network (CTEN) connects U.S. and African cleantech energy companies to market opportunities where technology can increase access to reliable electricity.

Guided by the goal to end energy poverty in sub-Saharan Africa, CTEN will introduce U.S. cleantech energy firms to specific deal opportunities in African markets and promote direct investment in African cleantech enterprises. Thus, CTEN will activate and facilitate a two-way ecosystem of cleantech energy companies, business associations, buyers, partners, investors, entrepreneurs, innovation labs, and government stakeholders to unlock innovation and bankable deals.

An initial project portfolio will feature technology that advances distributed renewable energy, energy storage, mini-hydropower, and smart grids.

CTEN activities/offerings include:

  1. Matchmaking, pitch sessions, workshops, roundtable discussions, webinars and other events that support business linkages
  2. Market intelligence
  3. Technical assistance and transaction advisory services

The CTEN facilitates linkages between Power Africa partners and external stakeholders and supports the provision of partner services. The initiative seeks to identify viable clean tech energy opportunities in African markets, incubate opportunities ripe for U.S. clean tech investment, facilitate partnerships between U.S. and African stakeholders, manage participation in trade shows, matchmaking events, and networking opportunities, promote new business partnerships and increase clean energy trade between the U.S. and Africa.
