Saratoga Springs, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team had a strong start to the ITA Northeast Regional Championship on Saturday. Junior
Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) won both of her singles matches and also teamed with sophomore
Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) for a doubles win.
Singles
- Three different Vassar players won singles matches on Saturday.
- McCusker won her first two matches, advancing into the round of 16.
- McCusker opened the day by cruising to a 6-3, 6-0 victory of Misericrodia's Brianna Pizzano.
- McCusker later moved into the Round of 16 with an impressive 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sydney Alphabet from Union.
- Kirby got off to a fast start on Saturday with a hard fought 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 11-9 triumph over Josepine Libby from Rochester.
- First Year Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) also won a First Round match on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Hamilton's Samantha Rainero.
Doubles
- McCusker and Kirby closed out a big day moving into the second round of the doubles draw.
- The Brewers' duo battled to an 8-5 win over a pair from Skidmore to open doubles play.

- Vassar looks to continue Saturday's momentum on Day Two of the Championship on Sunday.
