Jonathan Hood, PhD was named the head coach of the Vassar men's soccer program in the Spring of 2022. He previously served four years as the assistant coach for men's soccer at Colorado College. During his tenure with the Tigers, he helped guide the squad to an NCAA Tournament appearance, the 2019 SCAC Regular Season Championship title, as well as earning 2019 SCAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Through two seasons in Poughkeepsie, Hood has led Vassar to a 17-9-11 overall recrod, a 9-3-6 mark against conference rivals, two appearances in the Liberty League Championship, an NCAA Tournament berth, advacing to the Second Round in 2022.Â
In 2023, Hood led the Brewers to their sixth straight appearance in the Liberty League Championship. Individually, Hood mentored six All-Liberty League honorees in 2023, inlcuding Player of the Year Owen Fauth. Under Hood's tutelege in 2023, Fauth went on to be named First Team All-Region III by teh United Soccer Coaches as well as a Third Team All-American.Â
In total, the Brewers featured two All-Region selections in 2023, six College Sports Communicators Academic All-District picks and 20 selections to the Liberty League All-Academic Team.Â
In his first season in Poughkeepsie, Hood led the Brewers to the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Second Round for the first time since 2012. Vassar snuck past Babson in the First Round in penalties after playing the Beavers to a 1-1 draw.Â
Vassar finished Hood's initial campaign with a 9-3-7 overall record and an unbeaten 5-0-4 Liberty League mark, finishing second in the conference standings. Individually, six players were recognized with postseason All-Liberty League accolades under Hood's tutelage.Â

While at CC Hood was responsible for developing and implementing practice plans, recruiting and coordinating game strategies with the head coach. Hood also worked for the Rush Pikes Peak Soccer Club in 2018, serving as the head boys club coach for U15 and U17 teams.

Prior to his time at CC, Hood served as the assistant coach at St. Lawrence University. His three year tenure in Canton included a Liberty League regular season championship, a conference tournament title, and two NCAA Tournament appearances – one which included a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2015.

Before joining the Saints, Hood received coaching experience as the assistant at Immaculata University, as well as the high school and club levels.

Hood, who attended Ohio Wesleyan University, was a three-year letter winner for the men's soccer team. He helped the Battling Bishops claim three North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championships and make three NCAA Tournament appearances. OWU reached the national semifinals during his freshman campaign in 2006. Hood was also a one-year letter winner in men's lacrosse, helping the team to a 2010 NCAA Tournament appearance.

A 2010 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Hood went on to earn his Master of Education degree from St. Lawrence in 2017 and completed his PhD in Educational Leadership, Research and Policy from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in May of 2023.
