Centre of Excellence on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Other Related Mental Health Conditions

A virtual centre for information and resources on Veteran-specific mental health treatment.

  • Transcript - Centre of Excellence

Your mission is to focus on your physical and mental well-being.

At Veterans Affairs Canada, our mission is to support you.

That's why we have created a new Centre of Excellence that specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder and related mental health conditions.

We are dedicating 17.5 million dollars to preventing, assessing and treating Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans' mental health conditions.

The Centre of Excellence's mandate is three-fold.

First – it will coordinate and participate in leading-edge mental health research.

Second – it will optimize the education of professionals working at CAF, Veterans Affairs Canada and service providers on mental health diagnosis, treatment and tools.

Finally – it will provide the best possible mental health care to support the challenges facing our military – both in and out of uniform.

We know CAF members, Veterans and their families have unique needs.

So, whether you're still in uniform or you've released, you'll have access to mental health care that is comprehensive, integrated and consistent, no matter where you live.

We have made this benefit flexible – so you can choose what's best for you:

    – the school that best suits you; and
    – after tuition is paid, you can choose how to spend any remaining money to best support your education that semester.

Not sure what career or education path to follow? We can help!
