Ice and Snow Winter Storm


A potent low pressure system tracked east from the Rocky Mountains into the Tennessee Valley before pivoting into the Tri-State area early on Jan 19. The upper level jet dynamics of the atmosphere coincident with a very strong thermal gradient allowed for a sustained winter storm that produced a diverse range of weather from rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, and blowing snow across the Ohio Valley.
