Applicability for non-photos
[edit]Actually, using this property for paintings is not perfectly clear, as it could mean both 1) the place from which the subject is depicted 2) the place where the work was painted (for photos, both have to be the same -except postprocessing- but for paintings they can be different). I had in mind meaning 1) when proposing this property, should I change the description to make that more explicit ? --Zolo (talk) 07:44, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
- I seems clear to me from the labels that 1) is what is meant. — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 22:58, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
- There is also a third aspect. If a photo is taken of a painting of a landscape, there will be the co-ordinates from the camera of where the painting was seen but that could be confused with the co-ordinates of the point of view of the painter in depicting the original scene. To reduce chances of confusion, I have added applies to part (P518) to allowed qualifiers constraint (Q21510851) so more precise statements can be set. This is especially a problem for Commons structured data as bots will create coordinates of the point of view (P1259) based on the camera position and not the depicted scene. See File:La porallée en 1230.jpg as an example.[1] From Hill To Shore (talk) 00:18, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
Mark as prominent
[edit]Why can the coordinates of the point of view (as well as location of the point of view (P7108)) be marked as prominent? What would be a "not prominent" point or location of view?--Leit (talk) 14:36, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
