Lom Raet

[edit]

Thanks for updating Lom Raet (Q13025263) - I wouldn't have noticed this change so timely without your edit. I have improved that item a bit further, instead of just changing the instance of (P31), I added the previous municipal levels as well together with start and end dates. Are there any further municipal upgrades planned for the near future? I used to find them in the documents linked by http://www.law.moi.go.th/l5_group2report57.htm but that wasn't updated for quite some time (and is even down for me currently). Ahoerstemeier (talk) 15:50, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Andy. I'm quite sure there have been more changes so far, for example, [1] and [2], but I have no idea how much or what they are. I just tried my luck on Google today and yes I found the upgrade timely. I used to frequent that website too. However, after what happened last year, I couldn't find any up-to-date source that compiles all of the plans in itself anymore. --Potapt (talk) 19:00, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The name change of Ban Sai was published in the Royal Gazette already, so I got that one. The upgrade of Taluban (Q15980656) was new to me, so thanks for the hint. So can only hope the changes get published in the Royal Gazette, that's the easiest source for me, it is hard to keep track of all the administrative changes... Rivers of Thailand

[edit]

As you just cleaned up the few minor river in Thailand which has a stub in the English Wikipedia - if you want to have work for the next 10 years, take a look at all the river articles (and thus also items here) from the bot-operated Cebuano Wikipedia [3]. Actually even more than rivers, many thousands of geographical objects - the rivers are plagued with duplicates, whereas the hills/mountains usually have bogus heights due to inaccurate coordinates. Though I try to edit them, its simply way to many for me to do ever, especially since I have no official maps to check the data. Maybe you know someone from Thai Wikipedia who'd be interested in cleaning up that mess? Ahoerstemeier (talk) 09:56, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I tried to match some of them with those river articles in the English Wikipedia too, but just gave up (for now) after finding that there were also duplicated article of the same rivers. Apart from the gazetteers of the Royal Society which provide the breve information of Thai geographical names, I don't think there are official sources indicating the geographic coordinates for each entry. Most of the times I was able to locate those rivers with the help of Google Street View (looking for the signboards at the bridges over them) and this site. I doubt if there is anyone in the Thai Wikipedia who is willing to fix all of them though. A main problem is that the contents are written in Cebuano and we don't understand it. --Potapt (talk) 21:02, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, 99% of the Cebuano Wikipedia is just bot-created text from the data imported from geonames et.al., and I believe that text probably won't be ever read by any human being - doubt any Cebuano speaker would be interested in a minor Thai river or hill. Its just bad this data now pollutes Wikidata, any query on hills in Thailand will give totally bogus results because of those. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 20:55, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]

Hello.

Could you at create the articles en:Architecture of Azerbaijan (Republic of Azerbaijan), en:List of Azerbaijani film directors (Republic of Azerbaijan) and en:Bodies of water of Azerbaijan (Republic of Azerbaijan) in Thai (or request them yourself to other users in Thai Wikipedia)?

Thank you.

31.200.15.4 17:00, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK I will do what I can. --Potapt (talk) 21:05, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Check Thai descriptions

[edit]

Hi! Could you check if the descriptions added by Tong.4430 were correct? I don't speak Thai language, but Google Translate seemed to give me strange translations. Thank you, --Epìdosis 16:42, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Epìdosis: Those texts make no sense and are almost irrelevant to the items. --Potapt (talk) 16:51, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Postal codes

[edit]

I noticed you just changed three postal codes, e.g. [4]. I wonder - were the old codes wrong, or did the codes change? Because if they changed, we should show both the old and the new value here, marked with start time (P580) and end time (P582) qualifiers. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 12:15, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The codes changed. I suppose it was at the same time as when their corresponding post offices started the operation: [5], [6], [7]. Sorry I didn't know how to add them appropriately. --Potapt (talk) 13:30, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ahoerstemeier: Other changes I found on-line: [8], [9], [10], [11], [12]. Also I saw someone said that the codes for Charat and Som Wang subdistricts is changed from 93000 to 93180, but they didn't provide any sources. --Potapt (talk) 13:47, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In Lam Thap (Q24426) I added them the way it would be best, I will update the others (as well as the Tambon and local goverments affected) later, as well as update my own XML. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 13:54, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category

[edit]

Hello.

Can you create en:Category:Wars involving Azerbaijan in Thai Wikipedia, just like th:หมวดหมู่:สงครามเกี่ยวข้องกับอาร์มีเนีย? The military histories of Azerbaijan and Armenia are linked.

Yours sincerely, Artoxx (talk) 07:05, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Temples

[edit]

I worked through your Batch of temples in Bangkok you created yesterday. However, for Wat Nak (Q100234743) I was not able to find the coordinates. The databases GeoNames (Q830106) and Geographic Names Server (Q1194038) I link only contain the active temples, and also are not complete. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 19:28, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've added them now. --Potapt (talk) 21:10, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What is your source you used to create the complete temple lists around Bangkok? I tried to add all for Surat Thani as well - but turns out th:รายชื่อวัดในจังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี is incomplete, and I also don't trust geonames/gns that much - found 3 cases where the name seems to be wrong, and 4 which seem to be not existing at all. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 09:42, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Those lists on Thai Wikipedia are outdated and only updated sporadically. My main source is the data on the website of the National Office of Buddhism [13], which are as of January 2019, the most updated as far as I have found on the Internet. If you want the lists in spreadsheets, you can download them from [14], but the lists here are older than those on the website of the National Office of Buddhism (even if it is stated that the latest updates are from earlier this year). You can still access the cached versions of these pages if the links are not working.
Another list is on the report concerning the requests for the establishment of Buddhist temples as of December 2019 [15], which are already announced on the Royal Gazette. There are some temple names that are not on any of the sources I have mentioned, nor on the news, but their establishments are already on the Royal Gazette as well, such as วัดกัลยาณีทรงธรรม or วัดลาดคำไชยมงคล. --Potapt (talk) 14:17, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. In the lists you will see the column "the year of establishment". I'd say these data are not always reliable since they are taken from secondary sources, not primary ones. At least I know that the establishments of many temples in Bangkok and Nonthaburi province cannot be precisely dated because there are no primary sources to be consulted in the first place. --Potapt (talk) 14:35, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors

[edit]

Dear Potapt,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me at kholoudsaa@gmail.com or kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Kholoudsaa (talk)

Do not erase, destroy

[edit]

I see you're backing up my discussion, I'm quite upset about this, how can you delete someone else's discussion while they're talking? That's ungrateful and insulting to me - I ask you to stop this sir/madam หวูเฟืองทู่ (talk) 16:17, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is you who needs to cease your current actions. That particular discussion page is intended for matters related to the Wikidata item, not for activities resembling a fan club forum. Potapt (talk) 16:20, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
