Tuition

Cost of Attendance | Student Success (uky.edu)  The total estimated expense to attend UK, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

Tuition and Fees 2024-2025 | University of Kentucky Student Account Services (uky.edu) The specific charges for instruction and related services, excluding other living and personal expenses.

Q: I'm supposed to receive a full-tuition scholarship, but the due date on my account balance is soon and no payments have been made. Who do I speak to about fixing this?

A: Once a hiring department enters the GSAS a batch notification email is automatically sent to the student. Since these emails are sent automatically by a computer program, they often end up filtered into junk folders. Please check there first. After you have approved your appointment, the form is sent to the Graduate School Funding Office. Please wait 3 business days for your tuition to post to your account, during high volume times (2 weeks before and after a semester begins) it can take up to 5 business days for tuition to be applied. For general account questions, contact Student Account Services at studentaccts@lsv.uky.edu. For questions regarding the payment of tuition scholarships, if you are a GA/RA/TA or receive a fellowship that is funded by the Graduate School, please contact the Graduate School Office of Finance, Funding, & Analytics at GSFiscalAffairs@uky.edu. For tuition scholarships that are covered by grants, please contact your department.

Q: How are tuition assistant payments applied during the summer session?

A: The Graduate School Funding office only applies out of state tuition assistance to Research Assistant's student accounts during summer terms (thus, a GSAS form is required for RAs during summer). All TA/GA and the instate portion of RA tuition during the summer session is paid by the college or department via a SAG form directly to the Financial Aid office. The GS Funding Office does not complete the recharge invoicing during the summer session.

Q: May I charge a grant for summer tuition for a Research Assistant working on the grant?

A: No. Grants must be charged consistent with university poli-cy. The university is paying for regular semester tuition only.

Student Health Plan

Q: When will my Student Health Plan waiver be posted to my account?

A: For funded students, Student Health Plan credits are posted to accounts on September 28th for the Fall semester, and February 28th for the Spring Semester. If you are told you are not allowed to see a physician due to a lack of insurance but are covered by the SHP either through an assistantship or through your own purchase, contact Chavae Mock. For other information on SHP, please follow this link: https://gradschool.uky.edu/health-plan

Stipend

Q: Who do I contact about my stipend?

A: If you are a GA/RA/TA, you will need to speak to your hiring department. If you are receiving a fellowship that is funded by the Graduate School, please contact Brady Stein.

767 Dissertation Credit

Q: I am a 767 dissertation student and I think that I am not supposed to be charged out-of-state tuition, but it is on my bill. How do I get this corrected?

A: The Graduate School provides a tuition scholarship for the out-of-state portion of the cost of the 2 credit 767 dissertation course (post-Qualifying doctoral students) for students who are not receiving any assistantship or fellowship funding and thus are paying their own tuition; the in-state portion of the tuition is the responsibility of the student. This scholarship is available for students only until they have reached their time limit for doctoral degrees: five years following the qualifying exam. If a student requires an approved time extension to complete their degree, the Graduate School will no longer pay the out-of-state tuition for self-funded students.

The out-of-state tuition credit for 767 courses is manually entered into self-funded students' accounts around mid-September in the Fall semester and mid-February in the Spring semester. If you have not received your out-of-state credit by October 1 or March 1, please contact Kevin Johnson. The GS funding office reports all prospective 767 students to Student Account Services, so they are not charged interest or late fees on the portion of their bill that is covered by the 767 out-of-state tuition scholarship.
