Meet the research team
Research Assistants
One of our research assistants will meet with you each year while you’re enrolled in the study. They will help coordinate your surveys, your child’s speech and language assessments, and the videotaped tasks that you will do with your child. Our research assistants all have personal or professional experience working with families with children with hearing loss or other special needs. A few other research staff or students may also contact you throughout the study.
Parent Coaches
Each family who is randomly assigned to the Family Check-Up group will work with one of our parent coaches throughout the study. All parent coaches are also parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and they have done special trainings to be ready to deliver the Family Check-Up program to the participants in our study who are randomly chosen to be in that group. They work with a supervisor who helps them learn how to deliver the Family Check-Up program in ways that are shown to be best for families!
Tina Studts, PhD
Tina Studts, PhD is the professor who leads this study. She has over 20 years of experience working with families and children.
Julie Jacobs, MPH
