The University of Kentucky Barnstable Brown Diabetes and Obesity Center (BBDOC) Physician Weight Management Clinic is staffed by a physician and dietitian in Kentucky Clinic here at UK. This clinical program tracks weight loss and weight maintenance with clinical data as well as detailed surveys to examine the behavioral and psychological characteristics of weight maintainers and help develop strategies to improve patient weight loss results. The Internal Medicine Group (IMG) site has been seeing patients since April 15, 2014. Patients at the Internal Medicine Group (IMG) receive an hour-long one-on-one session with the physician during which time they undergo an assessment of past medical history, weight history, dietary habits, family weight history, 24 hour food recall, and physical activity. Patients are given tools for weight loss including goal calorie range, tools for recording food intake and physical activity, and other tips related to weight loss.
