The UK College of Medicine offers a variety of student organizations, clubs, and specialty interest groups for medical students to engage with peers, hone their professional skills, and explore specific interests within medicine during their educational experience. Involvement in these groups can help medical students develop into more well-rounded physicians.

Any student from any UK College of Medicine campus location may join a student organization, even if the student organization is located on a different UK College of Medicine campus.  Student organizations provide virtual options, when necessary.

Salvation Army Clinic (UKSAC)

The UKSAC is a free clinic run by medical students from the University of Kentucky. Association of American Medical Colleges Organization of Student Representatives (OSR)

OSR represents medical students nationwide and provides an active role for students in advancing the AAMC mission to improve the nation’s health. Additionally, the OSR seeks to ensure that students actively participate in directing their education, preserving their rights, and delineating their professional responsibilities. To this end, the OSR gives medical students a voice in academic medicine at the national level and strives to foster student involvement and awareness in this arena at a local level.

Future Professionals in Global Health (FPGH)

Students for Interprofessional Health Equity

This club will be the organizing body for an interprofessional healthcare summer program for incoming college freshmen. Students from different healthcare professions will be representatives for their respective colleges. There will also be volunteering and subcommittees for other students to participate in.

Physicians for Human Rights

This club is a chapter of the PHR National Student Program which engages medical students and other health professionals from across the world dedicated to the promotion and advancement of human rights. The program provides students with the resources, training, and networks to develop the skills to advocate for human rights. At UK, our primary intention is organizing an asylum clinic to conduct forensic medical or mental health evaluations to uncover signs and sequelae of torture or trauma in patients seeking asylum in our city.

FGiM is an interest group for all first-generation students in medicine.
