SUBJECT: FORMAT CHANGES TO THE TROPICAL CYCLONE PUBLIC
ADVISORY PRODUCTS FOR THE ATLANTIC...EASTERN
PACIFIC...AND CENTRAL PACIFIC HURRICANE BASINS:
EFFECTIVE MAY 15 2010
EFFECTIVE MAY 15 2010...BASED ON USER INPUTS...FORMAT CHANGES
WILL BE MADE IN THE TROPICAL CYCLONE PUBLIC ADVISORY /TCP/
PRODUCT. THE CHANGES WILL ALLOW USERS TO MORE EASILY FIND
INFORMATION WITHIN STANDARDIZED SECTIONS AND PROVIDE EASIER
DECODING WITH AUTOMATED PROGRAMS. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CHANGES
ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. THE TCP WILL BE ORGANIZED INTO FIVE SECTIONS. EACH SECTION
WILL BE INTRODUCED USING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION HEADERS:
-SUMMARY
-WATCHES AND WARNINGS
-DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
-HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
-NEXT ADVISORY.
2. THE SUMMARY /OR REPEAT/ SECTION OF THE ADVISORY MOVES TO THE
TOP OF THE PRODUCT...IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE HEADLINE...AS THE
FIRST SECTION HEADER. THE SUMMARY SECTION EXPANDS TO INCLUDE
ADDITIONAL GEOGRAPHICAL REFERENCE LINES.
3. WATCH AND WARNING INFORMATION WILL BE ORGANIZED DIFFERENTLY
AND ACTIVE WATCHES AND WARNINGS WILL APPEAR AS A BULLETED LIST.

HEADINGS OR PRODUCT ISSUANCE TIMES FOR THE TCP PRODUCTS.
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL
METEOROLOGICAL DECISIONS CONCERNING FORECASTING OF TROPICAL AND
SUBTROPICAL SYSTEMS FOR THE ATLANTIC OCEAN AND THE EASTERN
PACIFIC OCEAN...NORTH OF THE EQUATOR AND EAST OF 140 DEGREES
WEST LONGITUDE.
THE CENTRAL PACIFIC HURRICANE CENTER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL
METEOROLOGICAL DECISIONS CONCERNING FORECASTING OF TROPICAL AND
SUBTROPICAL SYSTEMS FOR THE PACIFIC OCEAN NORTH OF THE EQUATOR
FROM 140 DEGREES WEST TO 180 DEGREES WEST LONGITUDE.
