NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
900 PM PST Sat Nov 30 2024

For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude:

Tropical storm activity in the eastern Pacific basin this November
was about average, with one tropical storm (Lane) that formed
during the month. There was also one tropical depression that formed
in November this year. Based on the long-term (1991-2020) average,
one named storm typically forms in November every two years.

Overall, the 2024 eastern Pacific hurricane season was below normal
in terms of the number of named storms, hurricanes, and major
hurricanes. In 2024, 12 named storms formed, of which 4 became
hurricanes and 3 became major hurricanes (category 3 or greater on
the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale). These numbers are below
the long-term (1991-2020) eastern Pacific basin averages of 15
named storms, 8 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes. In terms of
Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE), which measures the combined
strength and duration of tropical storms and hurricanes, activity in
2024 was about 32 percent below the long-term (1991-2020) average.

Reports on individual storms, when completed, are available at the
