What excites Eric Cornell in science today?

“I’m very interested in science at the interstices—where physics meets biology, where chemistry meets physics. I think a lot of the most exciting areas of science in general don’t fit well into the traditional disciplines. I’m big on people taking physics and applying it to areas outside of physics—econophysics, things like that.

"For a long time, scientists have tried to emphasize their focus and their purity. I feel that whole approach is running out of steam. Study impure science!”
