NOAA’s National Weather Service provides weather, water, and climate information for planning and decision making to protect lives, property, enhance the national economy, and manage the Arctic’s many resources.

About Our Arctic Work //
Unique challenges make NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) vitally important to Arctic communities. People in the Arctic rely heavily on aviation, marine weather, and sea ice information for safe transportation and access to food supplies, goods and services. NWS provides advanced, accurate forecasts and warnings to ensure that communities can prepare for and respond appropriately to weather-related routine and extreme events. NWS also works to understand the role of Arctic weather in global weather in order to improve global forecasts.
