I work as assistant-professor at the University of Groningen Department of American Studies since 2012 teaching about U.S. constitutional and rhetorical politics and culture. I also teach rhetoric at the university's Honours College and am teaching coordinator of the University's rhetoric minor.

From 2016-2017 I also worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Frisian Academy (a research center of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences or KNAW) on a project comparing Dutch, U.S. American, and French experiences with revolutionary and populist rhetoric at the end of the 18th century
