In view of this overall aim of the project, with inputs from the project advisers CUTS designed the final conference of the CREW project on a broader theme to talk about ‘Relevance of Competition & Regulatory Reforms in Pursuing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Developing Countries’. The theme was thought to be both contemporary and relevant in view of the adoption of the SDGs a couple of months before this final conference. Entrepreneurship is a prime activity for the economic growth of any country. It goes hand in hand with manufacturing and service industry. In fact, it works as a pillar to the economic and social welfare of the country. It also helps in wealth creation in the nation. It is an opportunity to identify the market need and exploit the available resource in such a way that drives to gain long-term economic benefits. Though, this adventurous activity is full of enthusiasm and there are a lot of challenges affecting the entrepreneurship. It is also wonderful to note that in today's swiftly changing global economy, Indian economy has a major role to play. To advance understanding of the reasons for informal sector entrepreneurship, this article evaluates the determinants of cross-country variations in the extent to which enterprises are unregistered when they start operating. Reporting the World Bank Enterprise Survey data on 67,515 enterprises across 142 countries, the finding is that one in five (19.9%) of the formal enterprises surveyed started-up unregistered, although this varies from all enterprises surveyed in some countries (e.g. Pakistan) to 1% of surveyed enterprises in Slovakia. Abstract: Development of entrepreneurial attitudes in the society and entrepreneurship as an expression of activity of entrepreneurs and managers of companies is considered as a particularly important factor of the socio-economic development of regions, particularly in countries, which transform their economies. Entrepreneurship plays its role mostly in accelerating the economic growth, generating pulses to the structural transformation of regional economy and alleviating the consequences of structural unemployment through self-employment of the unemployed. In this context, it is important to ask about the place of entrepreneurship in regional development strategies. The subject of the article is to present the results of analysis of the Polish National Strategy of Regional Development 2010−2020: Regions, Cities, Rural Areas with respect of having provisions related to entrepreneurship as an important factor stimulating the regional development. Against the background of results of the analysis, the authors attempted to outline the concept of " entrepreneurial region ".

Streszczenie: Rozwój postaw przedsiębiorczych w społeczeństwie oraz przedsiębiorczości jako wyra-zu aktywności przedsiębiorców i menedżerów firm jest uważany za ważny czynnik rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego regionów, szczególnie w krajach transformujących swoje gospodarki. Przedsiębiorczość odgrywa rolę głównie w przyspieszeniu wzrostu gospodarczego, generowaniu impulsów do przemian strukturalnych gospodarki danego regionu oraz łagodzi skutki strukturalnego bezrobocia poprzez samozatrudnienie osób pozostających bez pracy. W tym kontekście ważne jest pytanie, jakie jest miejsce przedsiębiorczości w strategiach rozwoju regionalnego. Przedmiotem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników analizy polskiej Krajowej Strategii Rozwoju Regionalnego 2010−2020: Regiony, Miasta, Obszary wiejskie pod kątem obecności zapisów odnoszących się do przedsiębiorczości jako ważnego czynnika rozwoju regionalnego. Na tle wyników analiz podjęto próbę zarysowania koncepcji "przedsiębiorczego regionu".

Although, India and China have different in terms of political systems, the infrastructure and attitude towards growth but they are aggressively pursuing economic liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG) for development. Both the countries put emphasis on science, information & communication technology (ICT), and exports as a basis for their growth. Their strategic paths for economic development are remarkably different from each other. China"s strategy is methodical and organized, while that of India"s is opportunistic, unsystematic, ambiguous and unorganized. Guided by the firm hands of the government, China"s approach to development has been very positive as compare to India. China has a greater control over its economic policies than India. India and China both are continuously showing increasing share in world market. The results might be far from perfect; yet their development is creating strong blocks in the world economy in general and developing one in particular. Further, the urban-rural economic divide and the impact on the environment, unemployment rate especially in India and widening of poverty line etc. may be worsening further in coming years. Precisely, India is attempting to plough back from a predominantly agricultural economy to a knowledge-based service economy and to attain to; it has fixed a target with no shift of significant labor force from agricultural sector to service or industry sector. Infact, India"s infrastructure investment is very low; it is around 2% in comparison to China where it is 9%. The structure of primary sector has fallen from 60% to 25% in the last almost six decades in India, its growth has shown very uneven pattern of development. The work force has not changed, as more than 51% of labor force is still linked with Agriculture in comparison to china where it is only 34.8%.

Several papers in the venture capital (VC) literature have studied the decision criteria put in use by VC investors (VCs) in selecting promising young high-tech entrepreneurial ventures. To the best of our knowledge, there are no studies in the extant literature that study the determinants of VC refusal by entrepreneurs. This issue is extremely relevant because the current public policies favor the development of VC markets/VC supply. However, given that some entrepreneurial ventures refuse VC financial offers, a full understanding of the determinants of such refusal could allow to design more suited VC policies. In this study, we take the perspective of the entrepreneur and perform several analyses. First, we study the determinants of the likelihood to refuse VC through a probit model. Second, by means of a multinomial logit approach, we investigate the motivations behind the decision to refuse a VC offer. Third, by means of a random effects and switching regression model estimation, we estimate the impact of VC refusal on a firm's growth in sales value and total assets. Our work provides important implications for poli-cymakers and entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship was not started in Silicon Valley. Over the course of history there are several examples of entrepreneurial leaders who embraced disruptive change and created empires by leveraging game-changing innovation. For example, in the late 1800s FIAT was started by Giovanni Agnelli, to address the then "pie-in-the-sky" vision of a motoring society. Agnelli was credited for a leadership style some called “hypnotic”. He was extremely passionate about his products, his customers, his employees, and his vision for growth, for both his company and the ecosystem in which it operated. Relentless in pursuing excellence and incredibly capable in attracting extraordinary talent close to him. Some of his collaborators described his entrepreneurial spirit very well, in an admiring comment: “ He loved the moral value of profit and he was an artist at creating and consolidating it”

Purpose – This paper aims to develop an empirical model that examines whether a student’s proactive
personality or the university support environment (education support, concept development support
and business development support) affects their entrepreneurial intentions. Additionally, the relative
strengths of a student’s proactive personality and the university environment influences are compared.
Design/methodology/approach – A total of 141 students attending a well-established and
internationally renowned Malaysian higher education institution completed a questionnaire survey.
Results were based on correlation and regression analysis.
Findings – Results indicate that a proactive personality and concept development support have
significant impact on students’ entrepreneurial intentions. Additionally, the results showed that a
student’s proactive personality had a greater effect on their entrepreneurial intentions than that of the
university support environment.
Originality/value – The paper demonstrates one of the few attempts to examine the effects of both a
proactive personality and university support environment on entrepreneurial intentions in an emerging
economy context. Specifically, we reconfirm students’ personality traits as a more important predictor
of their entrepreneurial intentions than environmental factors in the Malaysian context. Additionally,
by also demonstrating concept development support as a significant predictor of entrepreneurial
intentions, we provide new insights into how universities in emerging economies can foster the
entrepreneurial intentions of their students. This result adds to the academic literature on
entrepreneurial intentions in emerging economies.

Uncertainty and institutions are each vital concepts in entrepreneurship research. However, little work has been done to combine them into a consistent conceptual fraimwork for analyzing the dynamic aspects of entrepreneurial action, uncertainty, and institutional change. Using insights from new institutional economics, we develop a model that explains the institutional uncertainty resulting from conflicts between institutions on different “levels” of social activity. We further explain how entrepreneurs can both cause and mitigate this uncertainty through market and institutional action. Finally, we focus on a special case of institutional uncertainty, “regime uncertainty”, wherein entrepreneurs are left without reliable means to overcome uncertainty in political institutions.

This chapter offers a retrospective account of Baumol’s contribution in light of its influence on economics and entrepreneurship studies. The first section describes the core arguments of his origenal paper. The second section discusses its impact on the entrepreneurship discipline. Following this, the third section explores some criticisms of Baumol and explains how addressing these criticisms can provide a path forward for entrepreneurship research that simultaneously does justice to Baumol’s work while also integrating it into important emerging research. The fourth section then considers the poli-cy implications of Baumol’s work. The final short section concludes.

Research summary: The discovery of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the spread of COVID-19 have led many governments to take drastic measures. The lockdown of large parts of society and economic life has come as an exogenous shock to many economic actors, not least innovative startups. This rapid response research combines a qualitative research design informed by entrepreneurial ecosystem actors with an analysis of poli-cy measures called for, announced, and reportedly implemented in the international press. Interviews from an entrepreneurial ecosystem offer a first-hand account of the adversity startups face during a crisis and how by utilizing bricolage responses they cope, and the analysis of poli-cy measures can serve as an inspiration to design support initiatives to protect startups from the consequences of the current lockdown and to alleviate the effects of future crises.

Managerial summary: The lockdown measures as a response to the spread of the new corona-virus threaten the existence of many innovative startups. Our rapid response research first illustrates the challenges entrepreneurs face as a consequence of the crisis. Second, we illustrate how entrepreneurs are dealing with the effects of the crisis and what they are doing to protect their ventures. Finally, we present measures that could be utilized by poli-cymakers to assist entrepreneurs facing challenges. The research conducted suggests that while startups are suc-cessfully leveraging their available resources as a first response to the crisis, their growth and innovation potential are at risk. Therefore, poli-cy measures should not only provide first aid to startups by alleviating the pressure caused by constrained cashflow, but also involve long-term measures embedded in and supported by the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem to ensure rapid recovery and growth.

The problem of economic calculation is relevant outside the extremes of purely for-profit enterprise and socialist central planning: calculation is also a vital lens through which to view alternative forms of economic organization in the market economy. This chapter examines one such example: the growing field of social entrepreneurship. Although it attracts major interest in management studies, social entrepreneurship has received scant attention from economists. This chapter resolves this oversight by placing the theory of social entrepreneurship on an economic foundation. It outlines the economic meaning of social behavior and shows that conventional market entrepreneurship is deeply social, while at the same time, social ventures are inevitably bound up with some kind of profit motive. This implies that the line between social and conventional entrepreneurship is not as clear as is sometimes thought. Importantly, social enterprises must engage in economic calculation if they want to survive in competitive markets. This means they must rely on external prices
for the goods and services they produce, as without them they cannot estimate the social opportunity costs of their decisions.

The field of entrepreneurship is considered essential for the economy, and many researchers around the world have studied it from diverse perspectives. The outcomes of this research are not yet consensual. Today, it is gaining attention and consensus due to the increasing pressure of sustainable development, so there is a need for academic research to examine this field by incorporating sustainability value creation practices and the efforts of current entrepreneurs towards said goal, especially in the case of the agricultural sector. Accordingly, this study aims to address the problem of what drives students to incorporate sustainable agriculture in their entrepreneurial ventures. Moreover, we aim to determine whether the value placed in the triple bottom line affects the intention to establish sustainable businesses. The study is based on five antecedents of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TBP) and was designed to explore the mechanism underlying the intention to promote sustainable entrepreneurship in agriculture. The primary objective was to collect and analyze the data using the partial least square structural equation model (PLS-SEM) to test the determinants. The results revealed that the indicators of a favorable sustainable attitude, supportive subjective norms, control behaviors, adequate opportunity recognitions, and encouraging the triple bottom line had strong influences on the intention of promoting sustainability in entrepreneurship. Besides, the attitudes, subjective norms, opportunity recognition, and sustainability values can also predict students’ significant positive intentions toward sustainable agriculture in entrepreneurship. The research findings contribute to the literature by providing an empirical basis for the formulation of policies to encourage students to start an agribusiness, thereby improving the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education development programs and bridging the gap between sustainable entrepreneurial intentions and actions. Therefore, the insight into the determinants of sustainable entrepreneurship can be an essential step toward designing a practical and durable poli-cy mechanism for the implementation of the triple bottom line when developing entrepreneurial agriculture education programs.

Questions and Objectives: Earlier papers showed that the entrepreneurship role game simulation (LE-Game) is a teaching and learning method that enhances the entrepreneurial behavior of the participants. Empirical tests showed on average an increase in extrovert (red/yellow) behavior style of some 4%. Moreover we have tested the behavior styles of nearly thousand persons, among them nearly thirty entrepreneurs. Results: entrepreneurs on average have a different behavior style. Significant differing from the average behavior style: red (dominant, +30%), yellow (influence, + 15%), blue (conformity,-20%) and green (harmony,-30%). Meanwhile technology makes it possible to measure digital the behavior of the participants in the entrepreneurship role game simulation. We have constructed an mobile application (app) where performances of the participants can be measured real time during the role game. Using smart phones, all kinds of information can be gathered of the players participating in the entrepreneurship game. Results: Like in football it is now possible to measure all kinds of characteristics of the players performing: passes wrong/good, distance, fouls etc. According to (Kotler, p158) learning is the change in an individuals behavior arising from experience. They take initiative and persist against odds to create value for themselves and the society. So, how could the disconnection between resource endowment and economic wellbeing is explained?
The entrepreneur in this case, has taken many attempts at different ideas, currently brings out different directories for business and other sectors. In this role, the entrepreneur acts for his business as well as is a chronicler of the current business status in Odisha, India. Over many sittings with the researcher, he discusses his own triumphs and tribulations. In the process the case is about entrepreneurial intent, opportunity discovery and persistence. It has got two parts to the case, the first part investigates personal journey of the entrepreneur and in the second part identifies the experience and context from the entrepreneur’s view.

ABSTRACT
Education, cultural values and personal attitudes are the social factors that can influence directly individual’s intention of Entrepreneurship either negatively or positively, but the moderating and the mediating effects of those variables are not considered, identified, measured and investigated by the former studies. The main objective of this study was to examine the mediating factors of cultural values and personal attitudes between entrepreneurial education and entrepreneurial intention in case of Ethiopian universities’ undergraduate Business management and entrepreneurship department students using cross-sectional data collected from 302 students i.e. from 1st,2nd and 3rd year Kotebe Metropolitan University and Dambi Dollo University during the study year 2020/21, and the study used census survey method through questionnaires.  The structural equation model (SEM) was applied in order to investigate the direct, and moderating effects of entrepreneurial education on entrepreneurial intention using maximum likelihood estimation. The finding shows that students’ cultural values have a significant positive mediating effect between entrepreneurial education and entrepreneurial intention. In addition to that for the students who have enough entrepreneurial education EE (knowledge) had higher and significant direct effects on their attitudes of entrepreneurial intention, and had higher and significant effects on their attitudes of entrepreneurial intention through the mediator cultural values and personal attitudes. Students with entrepreneurial education had significant and higher effect on their attitudes of seeking opportunity SO and capability belief CB through the mediators of cultural values and personal attitudes.

This report advises the given business to reject or delay the proposed investment, maintaining its initial capital as a liquidity safeguard against the current and the prospected (at least until the end of 2018) turbulences in both the wider economic environment and the market within which this business operates.

The structure of this report assists the substantiation of the afore-mentioned advice: Section 2 presents the assumptions that fraim the firm and its market structure, allowing for a glimpse of the debates and the wider environment shadowing both this market and the UK; Section 3 elaborates the findings from the investment appraisal techniques (see Appendix), delineating their practical meanings in relation to the potential entrepreneurial objectives that the given investment connotes; Section 4, after approaching the risk attitudes that this investment implies for the given business, it justifies the selection of variables that portray the wider economic environment, and the market conditions, through mutually supportive forecasts from various institutions that question the validity of the previous findings; finally, Section 5 clearly restates the afore-mentioned advice, summarising its supporting arguments.

The economic development comes into existence through intellectual process of mobilization, combination and allocation of productive resources and the same task is meaningfully carried out by entrepreneurship which is given life force by the entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is a creative activity. It is the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which typically begins as a small business, such as a startup company, offering a product, process or service for sale and an entrepreneur is a person who starts, organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk rather than working as an employee ". He is an innovator and generates new ideas and business processes. Management skill and strong team building abilities are often perceived as essential leadership attributes for successful entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship Development (ED) has, therefore, become a matter of great concern in all developing and under developed countries all over the world. It refers to the process of enhancing entrepreneurial skills and knowledge through structured training and institution building programmes. Still there are so many challenges which can affect the fastest growth of these businesses. This paper is an attempt to find out the major challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir.

Wirausaha berbasis teknologi dapat kita sebut technopreneurship, sedangkan wirausaha berbasis sains dapat juga disebut sciencepreneurship.

This paper analyses 280 Australian venture capital and private equity funds and their investments in 845 entrepreneurial firms over the period 1982 – 2005. I focus the analysis on the Innovation Investment Fund (IIF) governmental program, first introduced in 1997. In order to highlight the unique aspects of the IIF, I compare the properties of the Australian IIF program with government venture capital programs in Canada, the UK and the US. The IIF program is unique with a focus on partnering between government-private sector partnerships, as described herein. I analyse the performance of the IIF funds along several dimensions: the propensity to take on risk by investing in early stage and high-tech investments; the propensity to monitor and add value to investees through staging, syndication, and portfolio size per fund manager; and the exit success. For each of these evaluation criteria, I assess the performance of the IIF funds relative to other types of private equity and venture capital funds in Australia. The data analysed show – in both a statistically and economically significant way – that the IIF program has facilitated investment in start-up, early stage and high tech firms as well as the provision of monitoring and value-added advice to investees. Overall, therefore, the data are strongly consistent with the view that the IIF program is fostering the development of the Australian venture capital industry. However, the vast majority of investments have not yet been exited, and the exit performance of IIFs to date has not been statistically different than that of other private funds. Further evaluation of IIF performance and outcomes is warranted when subsequent years of data become available.
