During several botanical expeditions in the Republic of Macedonia (Mt Jablanica and Mt Baba: Pelister), a new genus Amphoricarpos Vis. and five new species for the flora of Macedonia were found: Euphorbia montenegrina (Bald.) K. Malý ex Rohlena, Prangos ferulacea (L.) Lindl., Tanacetum larvatum (Griseb. ex Pant) Hayek, Amphoricarpos autariatus Blečić & E. Mayer and Allium phthioticum Boiss. & Heldr. Most of them are mountainous Balkan (sub)endemics with less than 30 populations and with the center of distribution in southeastern Dinaric Alps. In this paper we discuss the phytogeographical importance of these five plants in the light of their new, more accurate distribution ranges in the Balkan Peninsula. In addition, new floristic records for the same species in the neighbouring Balkan countries (Albania, Montenegro and Serbia) are also presented.

The present annotated checklist contains 43 species of thoracican barnacles known to date from the area, 33 and 26 from the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, respectively. Nine species are new records for the area including Amphibalunus A. subalbidus and M. coccopoma are reported as alien species from the region.

The faunistic composition of benthic amphipods and tanaids in the cenote Aerolito (Purificacion system), Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico was studied. A total of 8823 specimens were examined and identified to species. The following species of amphipods were recorded: Melita longisetosa, Melita planaterga, Parhyale hawaiensis and the tanaid Hargeria rapax. All the species mentioned above are new records for Cozumel as well as for cenotes. The tanaid H. rapax is the first record for tanaidaceans in cenotes.

In the course of this study, the number of recorded chalcidids (Hym.: Chalcididae) from Iran increased to 42 species (including one unidentified species of the genus Lasiochalcidia Masi), of which fifteen species and four genera are new to Iranian chalcidid fauna. The family Chalcididae is repredented by three subfamilies in Iran as follows: Chalcidinae (16 species), Dirhininae (two species), and Haltichellinae (24 species). The genus Varzobia Nikol'skaya is here synonymized with Tanycoryphus Cameron and the type species transferred to that genus as Tanycoryphus tibialis comb. n. The species Lasiochalcidia indescripta Bouèek, 1952 stat. rev. is removed from synonymy with L. guineensis (Steffan, 1951). The validity of the species Peltochalcidia ferrierei Steffan is restored, being removed from junior synonymy with P. benoisti Steffan, and transferred to the genus Psilochalcis Kieffer. The species Peltochalcidia oranensis Bouèek, 1952 is here synonymized with P. benoisti. Complementary information on the biology, morphology and distribution of the species as well as a preliminary list of the Iranian chalcidid species are presented.

Information on the bat fauna of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands was limited previously to the results of sporadic surveys, with no specific focus on the habitats or distribution of the species. We carried out the first extensive survey of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during 2003-2006, covering 40 islands. Our objective was to map the bat species, their habitats and distribution. This resulted in identification of 25 bat species representing 13 genera, location of . 300 roosts and validation of previously recorded species. Notable findings included the rediscovery of the endemic Nicobar flying fox Pteropus faunulus after a century and its extinction from the type locality on Car Nicobar Island, the sighting of an albino Hipposideros diadema nicobarensis from Katchal Island, and the first records of Rhinolophus yunanensis, Murina cyclotis and Hipposideros larvatus from the Andaman Islands, and Taphozous melanopogon, Murina cyclotis, Pipistrellus spp., Myotis horsfieldii dryas and Cynopterus brachyotis from the Nicobar Islands. Threats to the bat fauna appear to be primarily roost disturbance and hunting for sport. Anthropogenic pressure on species of Pteropus is high as hunting occurs throughout the year. Secondary sources and our field observations confirmed the decline of Pteropus in several islands as a result of hunting and alteration to habitats. We introduced a community initiative to monitor and protect roosts and foraging sites close to settlements in the Nicobar Islands. Priorities identified for conservation of the bat fauna of the archipelagos are mitigation of threats to flying foxes and cave dwelling bats, initiation of research on endemic bat species such as P. faunulus, and a voluntary ban by local communities on hunting in specific areas and seasons. The paper deals with species diversity of Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) of Guilan Province, Northern Iran. In total 22 species of 17 genera (Adoretus LAPORTE, Aethiessa BURMEISTER, Anomala SAMOUELLE, Aphodius ILLIGER, Blitopertha REITTER, Cetonia FABRICIUS, Glaphyrus LATREILLE, Gymnopleurus ILLIGER, Onthophagus LATREILLE, Oryctes ILLIGER, Oxythyrea MULSANT, Paroniticellus BALTHASAR, Pentodon HOPE, Polyphylla HARRIS, Protaetia BURMEISTER, Scarabaeus LINNAEUS, Valgus SCRIBA) were collected and identified. Protaetia funesta (MEN.) has been recorded from Iran for the first time.

This study is based on material of the suborder Heteroptera collected and photographed from different provinces of Turkey between 2011 and 2015. In this study, 15 species belonging to 9 families are recorded from various provinces of Turkey. All of the species listed include remarks on their known distribution either in Turkey or in worldwide. Among them 12 species are new for the Heteroptera fauna of Turkey. In addition it is found out that Pasira marinadolina Putshkov & Moulet, 2003 could also have bicolored connexivum.

Hemerodromia raptoria Meigen 1830, Hemerodromia oratoria (Fallén 1816).

Rhamphomyia (s. str.) academica sp. nov. (Turkey) and R. (s. str.) soukupi sp. nov. (Turkey) are described and illustrated. Rhamphomyia (Lundstroemiella) cimrmani Barták, 2006, is re-described and the female is newly described. The first records of Rhamphomyia (s. str.) argentata von Röder, 1887 and R. (Pararhamphomyia) intersita Collin, 1960 are reported from Turkey. A key to species of Rhamphomyia from the Middle East is presented.

A survey of the distribution, percentage coverage, and diversity of octocoral fauna on the south-west coast of India yielded fourteen species from six families: Clavulariidae, Nephtheidae, Melithaeidae, Plexauridae, Gorgoniidae and Ellisellidae. This study produced ten new zoogeographical records of octocoral species to India, two species which were first records to the shallow water fauna (11 -12 m depth), and one found to be a potential new record to the Indian coast. Octocoral coverage was ,1% at all sites and diversity ranged from 6 -13 species among the five study sites.

The Scarabaeoidea of the families Trogidae, Geotrupidae, Hybosoridae and Scarabaeidae from the Maltese islands are reviewed. A total of 54 species are included of which the following eight species represent new records for this archipelago: Trox fabricii and T. scaber in Trogidae; Aphodius beduinus, A. algiricus, Amphimallon (?) scutellare, Aplidia hirticollis, Protaetia opaca and Trichius sp. in Scarabaeidae. Of these, the record of Aplidia hirticollis, previously endemic to southern Italy, extends its distributional range further south and that of Trichius sp. is based on intercepted material and its local establishment is not confi rmed. A number of species are based on old records and were not collected again recently pointing out to the possible extinction of these species from Malta. The almost complete absence of grazing animals in Malta may have contributed substantially for the disappearance of species associated with animal dung. Thirteen previously recorded species of Scarabaeoidea from Malta are being excluded from the Maltese fauna.

Scarab beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) comprise a group of species that are present in almost all agro-ecosystems. The fauna of these insects was studied in Iranian rice fields and surrounding grasslands from 2000 to 2005. A total of 18 species from 14 genera (Aphodius, Pleurophorus, Tropinota, Protaetia, Valgus, Amphimallon, Aplidia, Holochelus, Polyphylla, Chaetopteroplia, Asiopertha, Onthophagus, Scarabaeus, Paroniticellus) and 6 subfamilies (Aphodiinae, Cetoniinae, Melolonthinae, Rutelinae, Scarabaeinae, Coprinae) were collected. Of these, 9 species are new records for Iran.

Three dragonfly species, namely Sinolestes edita Needham (Synlestidae), Zyxomma obtusum Albarda (Libellulidae), and Macromidia ishidai Asahina (Corduliidae), are reported from Taiwan for the first time, and the genera Sinolestes and Macromidia are new to Taiwan as well. Morphological diagnosis of both sexes of the three species is provided, including descriptions of their habitats and ecological habits.

Nuovi dati sulla morfologia del gruppo di Viola tricolor -Su materiale proveniente da varie località italiane relativo a specie del gruppo di Viola tricolor (Sezione Melanium) sono stati studiati i principali caratteri morfologici. Ulteriori, importanti, caratteri diagnostici trascurati nelle Flore attuali sono stati individuati ed evidenziati con dati sperimentali in situ e ex situ sulla base dello studio di exsiccata e di approfondite ricerche bibliografi che. A tal fi ne sono state effettuate misure di sepali, corolla, petali, sperone, peduncolo fruttifero su fi ori ben sviluppati di piante a diverso livello di sviluppo. Si presentano immagini ad alta risoluzione dei caratteri diagnostici relativi a stimma, labellum e posizione dell'apertura stigmatica, di stipole e relative foglie prelevate nella parte inferiore, media e superiore del fusto. Esse forniscono un ulteriore strumento per una corretta identifi cazione delle entità di questo diffi cile gruppo. Una tavola sinottica mette a confronto i caratteri utili per una corretta identifi cazione di: V. kitaibeliana, V. hymettia, V. parvula, V. arvensis subsp. arvensis e V. tricolor subsp. tricolor. Sono stati controllati e, in alcuni casi, revisionati exsiccata di numerosi Erbari (APP, CAT, CLU, FI, GOET, IS, LEC, RO, SIENA, TO, TSB, UTV, Herb. Bartolucci, Herb. Lattanzi, Herb. Lavezzo). La distribuzione italiana è stata quindi aggiornata con nuovi dati per Umbria e Puglia. La presenza di V. hymettia viene confermata per il settore tirrenico antiappenninico (Lazio), dove la specie è molto frequente soprattutto nei dintorni di Viterbo, e per le Murge tarantine. Sono state osservate nell'Italia centrale forme intermedie di V.arvensis / V. tricolor da considerare come forme di transizione o di origene ibrida, chiaro indizio di una elevata variabilità. Attualmente non è possibile confermare la presenza in Italia di V. arvensis subsp. megalantha.

One taxon is new to science, Lythrum hyssopifolia var. cyprium, 16 taxa are new to the island, e.g., Campanula fastigiata, Ferula tingitana, Lactuca undu lata, Minuartia montana subsp. montana, Rochelia disperma, Sedum aetnense and Veronica bozakmanii. Chromosome numbers of Carrichtera annua, Euphorbia hierosolymitana, E. veneris, Lactuca tetrantha, Lythrum hyssopifo lia, Peucedanum kyriakae, Ranunculus creticus and Solenopsis antiphonitis have been confirmed or are reported for the first time. Background

Iceland has high availability of freshwater, and it is rich in brackish and coastal aquatic bodies. However, knowledge on rotifers and meiobenthic and planktonic crustaceans inhabiting these habitats is lacking, and the inland aquatic fauna in Iceland is relatively understudied in comparison with the fauna of adjacent marine ecosystems. The majority of past research focused on larger lakes with the exception of one study on rotifers from the 1950s (Bartoš 1951) and two more recent studies on crustacean fauna of shallow freshwater bodies (Novichkova et al. 2014, Scher et al. 2000). Data are particularly scarce for the south-western part of the country.

New information

We studied the composition of selected invertebrate taxa in various aquatic (marine, brackish and freshwater) habitats from South-western Iceland with a focus on Rotifera, Cladocera and Copepoda. Samples were collected from 12 localities, including marine interstitial, freshwater temporary shallow pools, swamps, wet mosses, springs, and lakes (both brackish and freshwater). We found 39 taxa in total. Rotifera dominated the sampled water bodies, followed by Copepoda and Cladocera. Three of the recorded taxa are new for Iceland, of which two are rotifers [Trichocerca cf. mucosa (Stokes, 1896) and T. vernalis (Hauer, 1936)], and one is a marine copepod (Cyclopina gracilis Claus, 1862). For some of the sampled localities (Sikið and Leirvogsvatn Lakes, and some of the smaller habitats) we present the first data on their microinvertebrate fauna.

106 species of Cerambycoidea deriving from published and unpublished data are listed for Pratomagno Massif (Tuscan Pre-Apennine). 40 taxa are first records for this area and new host plants are reported for the first time: Castanea sativa Miller for Brachypteroma ottomanum Heyden, 1863, Juniperus communis L. for Pyrrhidium sanguineum (Linnaeus, 1758), Vitis vinifera L. and Juglans regia L. for Plagionotus arcuatus (Linnaeus, 1758), Morus nigra L. for Chlorophorus glabromaculatus (Goeze, 1777), and Prunus sp. and Cornus sanguinea L. for Chlorophorus sartor (O.F. Müller, 1766)

We introduce a new record of the nectarivorous bat Lionycteris spurrelli Thomas (1913), collected in Pacurita, 64 km south from the type locality of the species in Condoto, department of Chocó, Colombia. In addition, we describe a divergent morphotype of L. spurrelli from East Berbice-Corentyne, British Guiana characterized by an abnormality in the orientation of upper and lower dental pieces and finally comments on the significance of the herein presented records are included.

Se presenta un nuevo registro del murciélago nectarívoro Lionycteris spurrelli (Thomas 1913) colectado en el corregimiento de Pacurita, departamento del Chocó a 64 km al sur de la localidad tipo de la especie en el municipio de Condoto, departamento del Chocó, Colombia. Adicionalmente, se describe un morfotipo diver- gente de L. spurrelli proveniente de East Berbice-Corentyne, Guaiana Británica caracterizado por una mal- formación en la orientación de las piezas dentales superiores e inferiores y finalmente se incluyen comenta- rios sobre la importancia de los registros que aquí se presentan.

Vesperidae and Cerambycidae in Tuscan Archipelago: synthesis of knowledge and new data (Coleoptera: Cerambycoidea). Un update of the families Vesperidae and Cerambycidae occurring in Tuscan Archipelago is proposed through published and unpublished data. Rosalia alpina (Linnaeus, 1758), Parmena gr. pubescens, Parmena balteus (Linnaeus, 1767) and Agapanthia cardui (Linnaeus, 1767) are excluded. Prinobius myardi myardi Mulsant, 1842, Rutpela maculata maculata (Poda, 1761), Stenurella nigra (Linnaeus, 1758), Icosium tomentosum tomentosum Lucas, 1854, Penichroa fasciata (Stephens, 1831), Nathrius brevipennis (Mulsant, 1839), Deilus fugax (Olivier, 1790), Phymatodes testaceus (Linnaeus, 1758), Poecilium alni alni (Linnaeus, 1767), Agapanthia suturalis (Fabricius, 1787) and Agapanthia asphodeli (Latreille, 1804) are quoted for the first from the Tuscan Archipelago. A new species of Herophydrus (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) from Madagascar and notes on some poorly known species of the genus Nový druh rodu Herophydrus (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) z Madagaskaru a poznámky k několika málo známým druhům tohoto rodu Jaroslav ŠŤASTNÝ Abstract. Herophydrus travniceki sp. nov., from the south-eastern part of the Itremo mountain range in the central Madagascar, is described. Its relevant diagnostic characters are illustrated. The new species is characterized by a unique combination of morphological characters: the male metafemur lacks a posterior expansion and the median lobe has posterior lateral ridges and a broadly dilated apspec. Moreover, an annotated species list of the genus Herophydrus Sharp, 1882 from Madagascar is presented. To date 11 species of Herophydrus are known from Madagascar. In addition, Herophydrus variabilis secundus Guignot, 1954 is recorded from Cameroon for the first time and its important diagnostic morphological characters are illustrated, and the following first national records are given: Herophydrus sudanensis Guignot, 1952 from Benin, Herophydrus ignoratus Gschwendtner, 1933 from Malawi and Herophydrus pallidus Omer-Cooper, 1931 from Zimbabwe. The occurrence of Herophydrus gigas Régimbart, 1895 in Malawi and Zambia is confirmed.

In order to identify and characterize the species composition of the subtidal zone of the Todos Santos Bay, Baja California, Mexico, benthic marine macroalgae were sampled at 7 sites from 1995 to 2000. As a result of 25 scuba at depths between 3 and 33 m we found a total of 150 species of macroalgae for the study area, of which 10 are Chlorophyta, 26 Phaeophyta and 114 Rhodophyta; 47 species represent new records for the study area, of which Faucheocolax attenuata Setchell and R.L Moe Minium parvum are new to the marine flora of Pacific Mexico. We
include a research that consider the macroalgae in the Todos Santos Bay and a discussion on the composition of species
found, its vertical distribution and reproduction, particularly the species epiphytes and parasites present in the study
area.

Sixteen species in 12 genera in the cassidine tribes Cassidini Delocraniini, Goniocheniini, Physonotini, Spilophorini, and Stolaini, are reported from Costa Rica for the first time. Localities for these new records are presented. Data are based on collections accumulated under the intensive survey of Costa Rica by Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio).

As part of a project dealing with soft bottom polychaetes from the western coasts of Acapulco Bay, Southern Mexican Pacific, 1050 specimens of the family Syllidae were collected and identified. Among them, 72 belong to two new species that are herein described. Plakosyllis curvispina n. sp. (31 specimens) is the fourth known species of the genus, which is newly recorded for the Mexican Pacific. It is characterized by having compound falcigers with elongated blades, very long, fine and curved spines, and three antennae in ventral position, partially or completely covered by the prostomium. Trypanosyllis microdenticulata n. sp. (41 specimens) is characterized by having bidentate chaetae, two pairs of eyes, the anterior one in ventral position and the posterior one in dorsal position and a very small trepan with transparent teeth.

We present a list of the anuran amphibians from municipality of Barão de Monte Alto, state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. This region is part of the remaining Atlantic Forest and the studied environments are represented by forest patches and open habitats. We recorded 29 anuran species, many of these typical and/or endemic to the Atlantic Forest. None of the species registered was considered under threat of extinction in state, national or international red-lists. It is worth noting, however, the presence of the tree frogs Dendropsophus pseudomeridianus, the first record of this species in the state of Minas Gerais, and D. bipunctatus, marking its expanded distribution in various locations of Minas Gerais. The present list examines zoogeography and conservation of anurans in the Brazilian southeast and broadens the knowledge of the anuran fauna in this region.
