Improving service delivery for hepatitis
Overview
Viral hepatitis is a major public health concern that places a significant burden on communities. In China alone, there are 87 million people who are chronic carriers of the hepatitis B virus, accounting for about one-third of all hepatitis B virus chronic carriers in the world. Additionally, an estimated 7.6 million people in China are living with chronic hepatitis C.
In line with the Global Health Sector Strategy on Viral Hepatitis 2016-2021: Towards Ending Viral Hepatitis, WHO China has been working closely with partners in China to improve and develop national guidelines to strengthen service delivery of testing, prevention, treatment and care. Through sharing global normative and international best practice, and providing practical recommendations, WCO contributed to the development and implementation of the guidelines including:
- National Guidelines on Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B (2020 version)
- Guidelines for Primary Care of Chronic Hepatitis B (2020)
- Management Algorithm for Prevention of MTCT of Hepatitis B virus (2021)
- In-hospital Process for Viral Hepatitis C Screening and Management in China (Draft) (2021)
