The International Affairs Office (IAO) coordinates all international cooperation for the National Weather Service (NWS) and is located within the Office of the Assistant Administrator for Weather Services. Mr. Ken Graham, who is the NWS Director, also serves as the Permanent Representative for the United States with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
IA supports the US Permanent Representative in coordinating US participation in WMO Technical Commissions, Regional Associations, and Executive Council. IA program analysts manage bilateral relations, implement projects, oversee the travel of NWS experts, represent the NWS at international meetings, and coordinate with other federal agencies and non-governmental partners.
