[edit]From Proto-Karen *ʔnwetᴰ ~ *ʔnweᴬ (“seven”) (Luangthongkum, 2019), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-ni-s (“seven”). Cognate with Eastern Pwo နိုဲ့ (nwê), Pa'o Karen နွိတ်ꩻ.
