Besides some minor bug fixes and speed enhancements, this version has three exciting new features:
- Since some months, we added wind gust forecasts to both Forecast and Superforecast model. Now you are also able to see the wind gusts inside the app!
- Some weeks ago we also added wave forecasts for the Mediterranean Sea and the Baltic Sea. Wave height, wave period and wave direction are now displayed in the app for locations at these seas.
- Do you know the following situation? You are at your local beach but there is now wind and you wish to know where there is wind near by, you want to drive there and go kiting, windsurfing, sailing etc? Now you open up your Windfinder iPhone App, go to “Search” -> “Around me” and find the weather stations around your current position sorted by wind speed!
Today we have added another feature to our Superforecast for Europe: now we are also
able to show you the latest wave forecasts for all locations around and in the Mediterranean
Sea and the Baltic Sea.
The forecasted parameters include wave height, wave period and
direction. Please note that the conditions at your location beaches may
differ. You can also see wave forecast maps for the Baltic Sea, the western Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Some weeks ago we have updated our Superforecast weather prediction model. Today we have also updated the Forecast model.
The changes include a higher resolution (about 27km at the moment), more advanced physics options and also computation of wind gusts! You can find the wind gusts row below the wind speed bars.

Yesterday we updated our high-resolution weather forecast model Superforecast for Europe. Now the wind and weather forecast for the next three days is computed in 12km horizontal resolution which is almost twice the resolution we used before. Together with improved physics options, this should give a more precise forecast especially for locations with difficult local conditions. Another important update is that you can now also see the predicted maximum wind gusts.
The new physics options and wind gusts options are also available for our Superforecast for Egypt. The already very high resolution of 7km remains unchanged.

Today we have updated our Superforecast for Europe. This update includes the same enhancements in the physical model as we introduced in our recently announced Superforecast for Egypt. We also use the same topography model with a horizontal resolution of 1km - probably the most detailed topography available!
These changes should result in more accurate predictions especially in mountainious regions and regions which show topographic wind speed modifications.
