Kitzman Named NAP Distinguished Scholar and Fellow
Patrick Kitzman, PhD, PT, and Professor in the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and Health Sciences PhD Program in the College of Health Sciences, has been named a Distinguished Scholar & Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) in Physical Therapy.
Being a Distinguished Fellow in NAP acknowledges outstanding achievements in interprofessional research, service and health care recognized by his peers. There are currently less than 80 physical therapists in the country who are recognized in this category.
“I am very honored to have been chosen a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in Physical Therapy,” Kitzman said. “It is extremely rewarding to have the work that I and my team are passionate about recognized by my peers.”
Kitzman received a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a PhD in Neuroscience from Ohio State University in 1994. He conducted a postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky from 1994-1997. In 1999, he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky.
Kitzman will be recognized as a member of the Class of 2025 in an induction ceremony at the annual NAP Meeting & Forum, March 13-15, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
