Financial Wellness

The College of Health Sciences recognizes that there are many factors outside of academics that contribute to student’s success including financial well-being.  To that end there are many financial wellness resources available at UK.

Financial Aid

Approximately 90% of College of Health Sciences students receive some type of financial assistance.  This funding comes from a variety of sources including federal student aid, institutional scholarships, and external scholarships.  The UK Financial Aid & Scholarships Office is available to assist students with navigating the financial aid process.

Summer Financial Aid

Many CHS graduate and professional programs, including medical laboratory science, require summer course attendance. To qualify for summer financial aid, students will need to submit the summer aid form, in addition to their current year FAFSA, and return it to their financial aid counselor. The Summer Aid Form will be available in late March.  Please reach out to your financial aid counselor to discuss summer aid availability.

CHS Student Relief Funds

The College of Health Sciences has been fortunate enough, through the generosity of donors, to establish two emergency relief funds for emergent needs.  If all other campus options have been explored and determined to be unavailable, students may apply for the CHS Student Relief Funds.  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and can be submitted here.  Please note that limited funding is available and reserved specifically for unexpected financial emergencies.

Graduate/professional students:

The UK College of Health Sciences Graduate and Professional Student Relief Fund provides financial assistance to students who are facing significant hardship due to unexpected financial emergencies. Financial emergencies can include, but are not limited to, an accident, illness, death of a family member, natural disaster, or other unforeseen circumstance that would negatively impact the student’s ability to continue their education. To help alleviate short-term financial needs, funds will be awarded as grants although students benefiting from this gift are encouraged to share their gratitude by considering ways to “pay it forward” in the future, perhaps by donating to the endowment funding their grant.

Undergraduate students:

Ethan Earlywine was a UK College of Health Sciences student in clinical leadership management and had an ongoing goal in life to help others.  He was passionate about healthcare and was dedicated to the field both in and out of the classroom.  While in school, Ethan worked at Georgetown Community Hospital which allowed him to complement his academic education with his passion for helping others. During his time at UK, he made many friends and left his mark on the University and the Department. To remember his selflessness and passion for helping others his family, friends, Georgetown Community Hospital, and the University of Kentucky established the Ethan Earlywine Student Emergency Fund in his memory. The Ethan Earlywine Student Emergency Fund provides financial assistance to University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Department of Clinical Sciences students who are in danger from withdrawing from a class or program due to unanticipated, temporary financial hardships resulting from emergency or crisis situations. Funds will be awarded as grants to help alleviate short-term financial needs.
