I do not believe the map would be a derivative work but a synthesis of information from the available sources. Also, being a derivative work was not the reason for requesting deletion. There seemed to be a lot of POV pushing on both sides of the debate and some of the sources cited look biased themselves. I am certainly no expert on the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and I'm not sure that the image is right or wrong. The country only existed for two years and barely was recognized as a country by other governments. Much of the border territory was apparently disputed so I can see why there is a heated debate over what the borders were. However, from a Wikipedia deletion process perspective, since no consensus was achieved, I followed the guideline "When in doubt, don't delete." If you believe the process was not followed correctly, please list at Wikipedia:Deletion review. -Regards Nv8200p talk 20:11, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- I closed the debate because I saw that there was no consensus. You can challenge the decision via Wikipedia:Deletion review. -Nv8200p talk 21:42, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
You may wish to read WP:BLUDGEON as it relates to your comments at this debate. Replying to every message at a DRV (or other discussion) tends to get diminishing returns, as users will stop engaging with you because they perceive you will argue with everything they say. Orphaned non-free media (File:Cache Azerland.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Cache Azerland.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:10, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Banak Cathedral
editHi Sardur, I did some very productive research at the local Armenian bookstore! I found an Armenian book on Classical Armenian architecture published in 2003 in Yerevan (it's in Armenian). It turns out the name of the Cathedral is Բանակ (Banak) and not "Bana" which is what Georgians who wanted to claim the church as theirs. Indeed, the Banak Cathedral is 100% Armenian and very similar to Zvartnots in architecture. I will update the article soon... Best, Serouj (talk) 05:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Location of Surp Arakelots Monastery
editHi Sardur, :) That is a good question! It took me some time -- I had found it about a month ago. I used the description of its location from the VirtualANI page for this monastery (see the "Description" section) to find it on Google Earth. I got some candidate sites and then I compared the pictures of the monastery on VirtualANI to the view from the site when I tilt the Google Earth application to view in 3D. With the Panoramio photo, I think we have visual confirmation... On another note, I bought the English version of the Armenian Art book by Thierry which you used significantly for the French article; I can't wait to go through it... Hopefully I can find English versions of the other articles and books you used. Much thanks. Best, Serouj (talk) 21:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Photographs from Research on Armenian Architecture
editGood day, Sardur! I wanted to let you know that I have gotten in touch with the Research on Armenian Architecture organization, and they have agreed to allow any of their photos (with some exceptions) to be used on Wikipedia and for any purpose so long as attribution is made to RAA. The exceptions may be those pictures taken by individuals outside the RAA, in which case the RAA may request special permission. Let me know if there are any pictures that you need, I can verify them with RAA, and then upload them for you. They are really a jewel of a source... Serouj (talk) 21:28, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

editHi Sardur, thanks for the heads up. That Brandt is a funny guy... Especially since he has no case for the Church of Kish article. All of this Caucasian Albania stuff exploded in their face when it turned out that these people were long extinct by the 12th century, some of them assimilating into Armenians and others perhaps among the Azeris... In any case, it's likely this church survived in AZ for the very reason that the Azeris thought it's an Albanian one. Serouj (talk) 22:58, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Population estimate of Armenia
editHi. Recently you reverted (together with other things) a new 2009 estimate of the population in Armenia#Demographics (referenced by the CIA World Factbook) back to the 2006 value. Any special reason for this or was it inadvertedly? Greetings, Michbich (talk) 11:20, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 12:51, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

report on MarshalBagramyan
editThose are not really reverts, second, the closure of the AfD and it's conclusion are very questionable. You just can't close a AfD which has 74% of votes for delete and that there were many votes having entered the last days. Particularly when the article was the recreation of similar articles deleted previously. The logical course of events would have been to wait. Someone should replace it for deletion requesting additional votes. Once each side have voted, then will come editors who are neither Armenian nor Turk.
Rational for deletion
- Fails WP:SYNTH
- References have been manipulated, when this was brought the author of the article failed to reply. (See my comment)
- The content is already extensivaly included in other articles, two of those subjects even have their own articles.
- Recreation of similar articles previously deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zpaven (talk • contribs) 15:33, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Hittit case
editAt last some issues will be brought up there. I'd like to offer you to mention these violations by Hittit as well. They are clearly for the case. If you don't or do it partially, the rest I shall do myself:
1) Minimum 2 violations of reliable sources as well as national sources on the “Gen. of Ottoman…” article as described in Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan_2#Amended_Remedies_and_Enforcement:
Further reading - Publications
- Greek Atrocities in the Vilayet of Smyrna (May to July 1919), Published by The Permanent Bureau of the Turkish Congress at Lausanne 1919 [2]
- The Armenian Atrocities to the Turks in Kars:The Mass Grave Excavation of Kalo/Derecik Village, by Şenol Kantarcı, Yrd. Doç. Dr., Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi, Atatürk İlkeleri ve İnkılâp Tarihi Bölüm Başkanı [4]
(This is a total propaganda)
2) 2 reverts in less than 2 days on the Armenian Genocide Article:
The 1st edit by him to the meaning and goal of which he (wrongly) reverted the article thrice: [1]
Reverts:
3) All of the 3 changes above can easily berefered as Disruptive Editing (again as per Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan_2#Amended_Remedies_and_Enforcement) with the editor not willing to get to the point as in WP:DE and discussed on the talk of Armenian Genocide article here [4].
ALSO:
4) Clear OR (with faking the link's wording and context) in Genocide of Ottoman Turks and Muslims very first "article-creating" edit [5]:
- "Massacres against Turks and Muslims during the Balkan Wars in the hands of Bulgarians, Greeks and Armenians are described in detailed in the 1912 Carnegie Endowment report.[11]"
- In the original text:
This witness confirmed Lieutenant Fisher's account, believed that not more than twenty Turks were killed in the massacre, and insisted that the local Armenian porters (hamels) had taken the chief part in the disturbances.
The town was without a regular government from July 22, and much robbery took place; but he had previously taken the precaution of sending the Armenian hamals, who were always a troublesome element, out of the town.
In the first sentence it states that some Armenians might have been/were involved in disturbances. In the 2nd sentence, that they were count to be a troublesome element. In neither of those anything accured about Armenians killing Turks in Balkans.
It is surely a method to raise a racial hatred in the reader through falsifying sources.
- In addition, as Zpaven noted, the added edits following after it confirm that goal: "Hupchick estimates that nearly 1,5 million Muslims died and 400,000 became refugees as a result of the Balkan Wars.[24]"
5) A possible vandalism by Hittit deleting an image of New York Times from the Armenian Genocide article with no reasoning or discussion [6].
6) In my turn I want to report 3 other 1RR violations of Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan_2#Amended_Remedies_and_Enforcement myself (only because you were involved in those edit discussions):
- The original edit:
- The reverts:
- These above could once again be seen in accordance to Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan_2#Amended_Remedies_and_Enforcement as Disruptive Edits with violation of Consensus.
Have some more, but am out of breath... Will be looking forward for your comments or actions to know if I should comment these or who (anybody else). Aregakn (talk) 23:22, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Arbitration sanction notice
editThe Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose, at their own discretion, sanctions on any editor working on pages broadly related to Armenia-Azerbaijan and related conflicts if the editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you continue with the behavior on Urartu, or elsewhere, you may be placed under sanctions including blocks, a revert limitation or an article ban. The committee's full decision can be read at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan 2#Final decision. Your recent slow-burning revert war on this page needs to stop. Regarding some recent Armenian article changes
editThis user who goes by the name of Kentronhayastan [14], Ive noticed his edits for a while now, and they are not exactly describing who he really is. I mean to clarify to you, what im saying is if you notice his edits on the Armenian articles, he pretends he is doing good to the Armenian history, but in fact, he is corrupting it in a clever way. He is an imposter actually. I noticed for example he added a whole bunch of foreign languages to all the articles on our history, and someone else did a good job of reverting those. He basically is POV pushing just about any time in our history articles of foreign rule. He tried to put Islam in all the history articles, hah, and included like 10 other languages, where it says languages. The person that reverted him did a good job and restored the native language Armenian to be the only main language of those times. Specially the Kingdoms of Armenia , whether they were Ancient, or the Modern kingdoms like Bagratuni, and the Antiquity. He also had purposely removed the Marzpanate Mamikonian period, and the other person asked him to restore it back. Also if you can help out please restore back where it says "Armenia Major" in the Antiquity, to "Kingdom of Armenia", this is what it said earlier and this guy Kentronhayastan reverted it back to Armenia Major. Its suppose to say Kingdom of Armenia, because the only Kingdom of Armenia mentioned first is in the Middle Ages. Its showing that there was no Kingdom of Armenia in ancient times? If you notice he recently also changed Commagene to "Kingdom of Commagene", but didnt change Armenia Major to "Kingdom of Armenia". Please put back the name "Kingdom of Armenia", in our antiquity. Thank you. And if you can also remove Armeno-Phrygian from the History template also, because that was never there, and this imposter which im suspicious of is trying to ruin our history. Also he tried to change the language of the Orontid period, by saying it was Proto-Armenian, it was never Proto-Armenian, and everyone excepts that that was earlier than that time. 66.81.159.105 (talk) 07:11, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Also he is the one that made the new image for the Template [15], the one with the Armenian eternity symbol and Mount Ararat with Khor Virap there in that image on the Template History of Armenia. It use to be the Coat of Arms of Armenia, but now he put this new one which is good. But he wants to restore back the Coat of Arms, when he himself made this new image. He is purposely doing this just to ruin Armenian history and culture. Please vote to keep the new image of eternity symbol and Ararat , instead of the Coat of Arms, which is only about the Modern history. This image is better cause its about all the History etc etc. So when he puts, of if he puts a vote, please vote for the current image on the template. Thanks for your help. 66.81.159.105 (talk) 07:15, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
