 ORIGEN DEL
NOMBRE TUMBES
Estos pobladores fueron llamados Tumpis. Otros posibles orígenes del nombre serían
las palabras tumbo, referido a una especie de pasiflora que abundaba en la zona en el
siglo XVI, o en la memoria de un legendario cacique de nombre Tumba, cuyo padre
Quitumbe estableció las primeras poblaciones.

Ciudad del Eterno Verano es el apelativo dado en un país a aquella ciudad que, por su
clima soleado y de altas temperaturas, a lo largo del año, da la impresión de encontrarse
siempre en estío.

sobre el que se vierte un guiso hecho con langostinos.

Arroz blanco mezclado con un concentrado hecho con
conchas negras y acompañado de yucas fritas y/o
chifles (plátano frito).

Chicharrones de pescado y mixtos

Compuesto por una serie de mariscos (langostinos,
calamares, pulpo) y pescado macerados en una salsa
para luego ir a la sartén. Se sirven con yucas fritas y
chifles.

1 ANIVERSARIO DE
TUMBES
Entre las tradiciones peruanas de cada región, está el de
festejar el aniversario de fundación de cada ciudad.
En Tumbes se celebra el aniversario de la
declaración de independencia el 7 de enero.

2 CUMANANAS DE TUMBES
Las Cumananas son parte del alegre folklore tumbesino, 3. LA DANZA DE LA PAVA
son composiciones en cuartetas o décimas que se
entonan al ritmo de arpas y guitarras. Las letras de Esta danza oriunda de Tumbes es bastante peculiar y
los cantos son bastante pícaras, traviesas y original, tanto por el ritmo de la música como por los
contagiosas. Las Cumananas tumbesinas son además pasos de baile. Se hizo popular durante la década de 1960
Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación. ¡Todo un orgullo y desde entonces se ha vuelto un baile tradicional. Los
del Perú! pasos de baile están inspirados en los movimientos del
pavo criollo y recrea el acto cortejo del pavo silvestre,
haciéndolo bastante llamativo.

representa los movimientos del Playa que trajeron los españoles (arpa) y en la época
pavo en el acto de enamoramiento pre-inca con instrumento de viento (pututo). Esta
