DAYTON - The RV/#23 Duquesne women's basketball team made 10 straight free throws in the final 1:18 of overtime to come away with a 76-72 victory over the University of Dayton at UD Arena on Sunday afternoon. The game was national televised on the American Sports Network.

With the win, the Dukes improve to 24-3 overall and 12-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The 24 overall wins and 12 conference wins both tie a program record. Dayton falls to 13-12, 6-8.

Deva'Nyar Workman led the way for the Dukes with a double-double of 14 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. April Robinson scored a game-high 30 points. Kadri-Ann Lass added 14 points in Emilie Gronas 10 win the win.

UD's Saicha Grant-Allen scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Jenna Burdette scored 10 with a game-high 14 assists. Lauren Cannatelli scored a team-high 18 for the Flyers, who drop their third in a row.

Despite Duquesne making only two of their first 13 shots - including 1-of-8 from 3-point range, the teams were deadlocked at 8-8 heading into the 1st quarter media timeout. The Dukes finished the quarter making only 3-of-20 field goal attempts and trailed 17-11.

The Flyers took the game's first double-figure lead at 22-11 early in the 2nd quarter on Ashleigh Parkinson's bank shot. Duquesne responded with a 9-0 run over the next two minutes, making the score 22-20 and forcing a UD timeout at the 6:37 mark. Coming out of the stoppage, Lass hit a jumper to tie the game and Workman a layup to give Duquesne its first lead of the game - 24-22 at 3:59. Duquesne would take a 31-29 advantage into halftime.

Gronas started the 3rd quarter off with a 3-pointer to give Duquesne a 34-29 lead. UD would go on a 14-5 run over the next 5:32 to take a 43-39 advantage with 3:45 remaining. A 3-pointer by Workman followed by a layup by Lass gave the Dukes the lead once again at 44-43. The teams would exchange leads two times before a Burdette 3-pointer closed out the scoring with Dayton leading 48-47.

UD opened up to a six point lead at the 8:17 mark of the 4th quarter. The Dukes responded with a 9-0 run over the next 3:31 to take a 59-56 lead with 4:23 remaining. The Flyers would get within a point on Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova's jumper with 2:45 left to make the score 61-60. The following nine possessions were empty until Grant-Allen was fouled with 33 seconds left. She missed the first show and connected on the second to tie the game at 61-61. The Dukes had a chance to win the contest in regulation, but could not get a shot off, giving the ball back to the Flyers with 2.8 seconds remaining. The Duquesne defense was able to hold the Flyers without a shot to send the game into overtime.

Workman's layup opened up the overtime scoring, but Dayton was able to grab the lead after a JaVonna Layfield free throw and a Cannatelli 3-pointer. Robinson answered the 3- ball to put the Dukes ahead for good at 66-65 with 1:38 to play. After a missed jumper by Layfield, Robinson was fouled with 1:18 remaining and started free throw streak. Dayton's Christy Macioce hit a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining to make it 74-72, but Robinson converted her foul shots after she was fouled on the ensuing possession.

The Dukes made 82 percent of their free throws for the game - including Robinson's perfect 8-8. They also had a season-high 13 steals, led by Workman's career-high seven. Duquesne assisted on 19 of their 24 field goals.

The Dukes return home on Wednesday night to face La Salle (5-22, 2-12 A-10) on Senior Night at 7:00 p.m.
