Stegosaurus (e Graeco, στέγος 'tectum' + σαῦρος 'lacerta') est genus dinosaurorum quod abhinc 155 et 150 milliones annorum, aevo Iurassico superiori, vivebat, ossibus fossiliis in petris Civitatum Foederatarum occidentalium et Portugalliae repertis. Plus octaginta species singulae inventae sunt,[1] a plerisque in tres species divisae: S. stenops, S. ungulatus, ac S. sulcatus. Stegosaurus simul cum Apatosauro, Diplodoco, Brachiosauro, Allosauro, ac Ceratosauro vivebat; hi tres fortasse Stegosaurum venabantur.
