Emergency psychiatric services are located with the Yale New Haven Hospital Emergency Room and with the main component known as the Crisis Intervention Unit. Staff provide emergency evaluation and crisis management for over 5,000 patient visits per year. The CIU does rapid diagnostic assessments and formulates disposition plans for patients with a wide variety of diagnosis.
