Direct Flights from Ulaanbaatar to Ho Chi Minh City Officially Launched
SocietyUlaanbaatar, December 11, 2024 /MONTSAME/. MIAT Mongolian Airlines has successfully launched its first scheduled flight to Ho Chi Minh City in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, officially introducing the Ulaanbaatar–Ho Chi Minh route.
The introduction of this scheduled flight marks an important step in expanding trade, economic relations, transport logistics, and tourism cooperation between Mongolia and Vietnam. The route is also expected to play a vital role in increasing the passenger flow between the two countries in the future. MIAT Mongolian Airlines will operate this flight regularly on Tuesdays and Fridays, with 292 passengers aboard the inaugural flight.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the development of tourism in Mongolia. In line with the “Years to Visit Mongolia” initiative declared by the Government of Mongolia, the number of tourists visiting the country, as well as air travel passengers, has been steadily rising in recent years. By establishing a stable flight connection with Ho Chi Minh City—a leading city in Southeast Asia and globally renowned for its economy, industrialization, and tourism—the volume of passenger traffic and cargo transportation is expected to increase further, reported the Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia.
The inaugural flight ceremony was attended by Batbold Sandagdorj, State Secretary of the Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia, Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mongolia, and other officials, who bid farewell to the first group of passengers.
