Mongolian and Colombian Citizens Can Travel Visa-Free for Short-Term Visits

Ulaanbaatar, December 23, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The fourth Political Consultative Meeting between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia was held in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, on December 18, 2024.


At the meeting, the two parties exchanged information on the political, social, and economic situation of the two countries and affirmed mutual commitment to strengthening and intensifying the progress made in recent years in Mongolian-Colombian relations. The two parties agreed to develop bilateral relations in trade, economy, tourism, education, and culture. The Colombian side invited Mongolia to participate in programs and projects implemented by the Colombian Government under the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Colombia on Technical Cooperation” signed in 2023. To expand bilateral business ties and support tourism, the two parties emphasized the need for mutual appointment of Honorary Consuls in the near future.  The two sides agreed to continue supporting each other under multilateral cooperation and to actively cooperate within the framework of the United Nations and multilateral mechanisms, including the East Asia and Latin America Cooperation Forum. 


Also, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Colombia Zoljargal Seseer and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia Jorge Rojas signed an Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Colombia on the Exemption of Ordinary Passport Holders from Short-Term Visa Requirements.


In addition, Mongolia has a reciprocal visa exemption agreement that allows its citizens to travel visa-free to several Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Cuba, Paraguay, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, and Ecuador.
