NAU Athletics
Northern Arizona University, a member of the Big Sky Conference, sponsors 15 NCAA Division I level athletic programs.
NAU is home to the state's first three-peat 2016, 2017 and 2018 NCAA National Champion Men's Cross Country team. The Men's Cross Country team has since captured three additional national championships in the spring of 2021, the fall of 2021, and the fall of 2022.
The Lumberjacks have earned four Big Sky Presidents' Cups, most recently in 2020-21. NAU also swept the 2020-21 Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophies, marking the sixth sweep of the trophies in school history. The NAU men have won 18 All-Sport Trophies, including the most recent in 2024, and the NAU women have captured 11 of their own, including the most recent in 2023 which marked the third-consecutive honors.
Show your school spirit and join the excitement at football and men's and women's basketball games in the Walkup Skydome, the second largest wooden dome structure in the United States. NAU will debut a brand new complete indoor track surface in 2024 in the Skydome, while the soccer and outdoor track and field programs compete at Lumberjack Stadium. Swimming & diving and men's and women's tennis compete at the Aquatic and Tennis Center that was completed in the spring of 2016. The golf team competes and practices at local venues in and around Flagstaff.
