NCAR is a National Science Foundation federally funded research and development center.
As such, the vast majority of the center's financial support comes from NSF. However, NCAR leverages this support with funding provided by other federal agencies and non-federal sources, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Department of Energy, and the Federal Aviation Administration, among other partners.
