      Idon’t know why I try so hard. It’s like no matter what I do, it’s never good enough for Justine. I’m always there for her and our baby girl, Mandy, but still, it’s never enough.

      I push my way past the busy crowds making their gift purchases for the holiday season and stop once I reach the health and fitness store. This should be the perfect spot for picking up fellow interestees, as I prefer to call them. Groupies just sounds wrong, but honestly, that’s the majority of what they are: women who have a thing for UFC fighters like myself and my boy, Lorenzo, in hopes that we’ll notice them too.

      But I’m really not looking for anything. No, Justine and I are not together again, since she’s so quick to send me on my merry way. I hate the back and forth between us so much, but if I don’t stay on her good side, she won’t let me see my daughter.

      Fuck, I don’t know why she has to make things so difficult! I want to be there for her and Mandy, but she is… something else.

      I shake my head and stand against a nearby wall, scoping the place out. The main event is coming up in a few days, so we’re trying to get the word out… even though it's basically sold out. A few more tickets are available, but I know they won’t last long. We always manage to fill every seat.

      I slowly tilt my head to the right and see two women around eighteen or so whispering to themselves and giggling as they check me out. I chuckle under my breath and pretend not to see them so they don’t feel embarrassed. But I know they recognize me from the ads going around, as the brunette is pointing at it in her hand.

      I move my eyes toward them as they walk up to me.

      Excuse me, the blonde says.

      Hey, ladies. How are you? I ask nonchalantly.

      The brunette steps forward, flyer still in hand. You’re Ryker Manzoni, the UFC fighter, aren’t you? She lifts it up so I can see it clearly.
