In connection with the European Cost programme EarlyMuse, the actual state and future of the 'monumetal' editions of European music has been dealt with in a new article in the Journal of New Music Research.

The article includes a general assessment of this type of longstanding source editions, and some specific national and international editorial projects, among these the Monumenta Musicae Byzantinae, are featured.
