3 arrested after shots fired out of car on highway
VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - Three SWLA men are facing charges in connection with a drive-by shooting on U.S. 171, deputies said.
A man driving through Pickering with his family around 5:30 Thursday evening reported that someone was shooting out of the back passenger side window of a gray Toyota Camry, Vernon Parish deputies said. The man sped up to get away from the car, fearing for the safety of his wife and three small children.
The man then followed the car at a distance onto Jean Chapel Extension, deputies said. Deputies caught up with the car in the parking lot of a shopping center on Entrance Road.
Deputies found two suspects in the car as well as a short-barrel rifle lying in the back seat in plain view. They found the third man who had been in the car at a business in the shopping center, deputies said.
The three men were arrested on the following charges:
- Dangelo Tramil Scott, 22, of DeRidder
- Assault by drive-by shooting,
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of marijuana
- Warrant from Beauregard Parish
- Markeise Dshun Piper, 21, of DeRidder
- Assault by drive-by shooting
- William Henry Glaze, 22, of Leesville
- Assault by drive-by shooting.
The suspects are held at the Vernon Parish jail. Their bond has not been set.
