From congestion, potholes, and lane closures on Interstate 10, drivers have had plenty to complain about. However, in just one day, the situation appears vastly improved.
La. 14 is one of the most traveled roads in Southwest Louisiana and it will soon see new improvements. However, those improvements will lead to lane closures through next year.
In 1981, a 26 vehicle pileup happened on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge and three people were killed. It was blamed on an expansion joint that popped up and punctured a truck's fuel tank and leaked diesel on one side of the bridge, turning it into a slippery slope. Tuesday a driver noticed what turned out to be a finger of an expansion joint sticking up. She reported it to police, maybe saving lives.
