The purpose of the National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) Certified Accessibility and Private Residence Lift Technician (CAT) program is to provide the accessibility industry with a means of obtaining and verifying knowledge and experience requirements related to compliance with industry codes, specific technical theory, components, and competencies.
Qualification Requirements for CAT™ Candidates
- Completion of the NAEC CAT™ Training Program or meet the experience qualification (a minimum of 6,000 documented hours (3 years) of on-the-job training prior to December 31, 2014).
- Completion of the entire application process, including submitting the respective fee payment, within 90-days of the initial application submission. The applicant will have 365-days to pass the examination from the respective examination authorization date.
- Individuals passing the NAEC CAT™ Certification Examination and approved by the Certification Board will be issued an identification (ID) card. ID cards shall be issued for a one-year period, which shall correspond to the term of the certification period of the applicant.
