The following is a list of suggested presentation topics. You do not necessarily choose from the following, I would rather you to choose the ones you have special interest in. Please email me your topic with your group member by May 1st.

1. Is Quantitative Easing(QE) eective? Try to nd the goal of QEs, and use data to explain the (in)eectiveness of the U.S. four QEs in a row. 2. Why China would like to establish the FTA with the other Asian countries? Use the monetary perspective. 3. Why would European Union need a uniform currency(euro)? Use the monetary perspective. 4. After 20 years of economic contraction, is the depreciation in yen helpful for the Japanese economy? 5. How did the Chinese government try to prevent the housing market from over-heating? Analyze the dierent policy goals and their effects(using data will be preferable) .

6. The structure of the big four: the four state-owned banks in China. Talk about their roles as nancial intermediaries and how they deal with the bad loans (Use their balance sheets to illustrate). 7. Personal nance: what is the best investment strategy in China and why? Try to market your idea with numbers and reasonings(and also be ready for any challenges from the audience). 8. The e-banking in the emerging market. Talk about its role in the nancial system (You can choose a country, China for example, as a benchmark). Use the theory to show the impact. 9. What is the major impact of 2008 nancial crisis and the European Sovereign Debt Crisis to China? 10. The local banking competition. This is an open topic, you can talk about the bank competition in your hometown or Chengdu. Or you can talk about the dierentiation in the clients or how dierent banks ght for their market shares. 11. The M 2 in China has reached 100,000 billion early this year, and it has grown more than 5 times in ten years. What is eect of this policy? Use the theory as well as your observation(data are preferable too) to explain.
