The document provides the grade thresholds for Syllabus 8004 General Paper for the May/June 2008 examination. For Component 1 out of a maximum of 100 marks, an A required 68 marks or higher, a B was between 57-67 marks, and an E was 40 marks or lower. The C and D grade thresholds were determined by dividing the mark range between B and E thresholds into three intervals.

Grade thresholds taken for Syllabus 8004 (General Paper) in the May/June 2008 examination.
minimum mark required for grade: maximum mark available A B E Component 1 100 68 57 40
The thresholds (minimum marks) for Grades C and D are normally set by dividing the mark range between the B and the E thresholds into three. For example, if the difference between the B and the E threshold is 24 marks, the C threshold is set 8 marks below the B threshold and the D threshold is set another 8 marks down. If dividing the interval by three results in a fraction of a mark, then the threshold is normally rounded down.
Grade Thresholds are published for all GCE A/AS and IGCSE subjects where a corresponding mark scheme is available.
