Rules are guidelines that maintain positive behavior. Procedures are the way we do things to
help the class run smoothly.

Procedures
1. Students entering the classroom
a. Silently enter the classroom
b. Go silently and directly to your assigned seat and sit down
c. Place your required materials on top of your desk
d. Silently begin the warm up on the board
2. Collecting student work
a. teacher will instruct which materials are to be collected
b. when told to do so, pass materials, face down, to the person in the
desk on the left
c. when receiving students work from your right, keep all work face
down, and place yours on top, before passing it to the person in the desk on the
left
3. Passing out materials
a. teacher will instruct what is to be done with materials that are to be
passed out
b. when told to do so, receive materials, keeping what you are
instructed to keep, and passing the rest to the student in the desk to your right
4. Getting student attention
a. teacher will say I need your help, with hand raised in air
b. students will respond by looking at the teacher, raising their hands
c. when teacher sees all hands raised and has everyones attention, he
will say thank you, then will proceed
d. students will remain attentive, going back on task when told to by
instructor
5. Borrowing a pencil from the teacher
a. you will let the teacher know before the bell rings if you need to
borrow a pencil
b. you will be given a pencil and must sign for it on a sign-out sheet
c. you must leave a cell phone or other item of value for collateral
d. you will receive the item back when class is ready for dismissal
e. if you do not have a pencil, or need one sharpened after the bell
has rung, you must wait until after the warm-up is over and has been reviewed
before raising your hand to ask the teacher
6. Using the teachers paper
a. paper will be available at the front of the classroom for you to use
b. all assignments that are to go into your science notebook must be
secured to a spiral bound page, so glue in any paper that you need to borrow
7. Using Chromebooks
a. Chromebook assignments will be explained before they are to be
passed out
b. you must have the assignment title written in your science
notebook before receiving a Chromebook
c. you will be given the the number Chromebook that matches the
seat number at your assigned seat
d. if you have finished the assignment, you will be permitted to do
science work only
8. Using the hall pass
a. to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water, you must raise your
hand silently at your desk and wait for my response
b. you will not be permitted to use the bathroom or get water less
than 20 minutes after the tardy bell rings or less than 20 minutes before dismissal
time.
9. Going to and from locations in the school (including cafeteria)
a. when the teacher says to line up by rows, start with the first row
along the counters across from the door
b. line up behind the person who sits in front of you
c. stay in this order, single file
d. when walking through the halls, to or from somewhere, remain in
this order and silent
e. stop at each point you are instructed to do so and do not pass
through a doorway or around a corner until the teacher says to
f. we will not have bathroom or water breaks from line, those are
given only during class, one person at a time
10. Dismissing class
a. class will not be dismissed unless all students are in their seats and
silent
b. it must be clean around your desk and all items must be put away
