    Green Ribbon Skills


    We will be working on various skills the remainder of the year to get the students ready for first grade. In the room we have ribbons hanging for the students to monitor their own success at the skills. Every time they master a skill a sticker is placed on their ribbon. When they master all the skills and fill up their ribbon they get to take it home. The skills range from writing 3 complete sentences, to tying their shoe, and learning their phone number. A list of skills to be included on the ribbon can be found in the keep at home side of their binder. Please help your child learn these skills. We will test periodically throughout the week and award the stickers for the ribbons at the end of the day. With team work I know every child can master these skills and become ready for first grade!!

    Weekly Assignments
    *Packets go home Monday and are turned in on Friday. Monday- Practice writing the letters p, k, and b 5 times each. Tuesday- number words worksheet

    What we are learning:

    Wednesday- sight word worksheet Thursday- number worksheet

    Reading This week we will work on the letters Bb and Kk. We will also be learning about the main idea of a story, as well as story elements. Math We will be working on learning the number words from 0-20. Science This week we will explore outer space. We will complete space crafts as well as sharing space stories, and a shuttle lift off!

    Practice reading racers flash cards.

    *Please read with your child every night. Doing so gives them a head start at learning to read.

    ** All Ocala Discovery Science Center field trip permission slips and money are due by January 17, 2012. The field trip is for Feb. 3rd and the cost is $6.50 per student. ** Please send a healthy snack with your child daily. Snack time gives us the energy we need to keep on learning!!
