Aims
Recognise the affirmative and negative forms of Present Continuous Tense in

the 3rd person, singular and plural.
Revision of vocabulary concerning actions in progress: dancing, playing
basketball, watching tv, riding a bike, cooking.
Warming up
Firstly, Ill greet the students. I will say Good morning students my name is Fernanda
and I am going to be your teacher for today. Look at me,I am studying English at the
moment. You are studying English at the moment.
Presentation
Now, Ill show the students some pictures of famous people doing different activities.
Ill ask them who they are and Ill tell them what they are doing. As I do that, Ill stick the
pictures on the board and some signs with the activities in the ing form.
Me: Ok, now let me introduce you some friends and lets talk about what they are doing.
Ss: Ok.
Me: Do you know him?
Ss: Yes. He is Emanuel Ginobili .
Me: Yes. He is Emanuel Ginobili and he is playing basketball now. So he is not using
facebook now
He is playing basketball now
He isnt using facebook now

Ss: Yes. Lionel Messi.
Me: Yes. He is Lionel Messi and he is cooking right now. So he is not listening to music
right now.

Me: Do you know them?

Ss: Yes. Los tres Chiflados.
Me: Yes. They are los tres Chiflados and they are riding a bike now.

Ss: Yes. Homero Simpson.
Me: Yes. He is Homero Simpson and he is studying English at the moment. So he is not
riding a bike.

Me: Do you know her?

Ss: Yes. Monica Argento.
Me: Yes. She is Monica Argento and she is not watching tv right now. So she is not
dancing cumbia.

Practice
Now Ill ask the students to repeat the sentences I said using the -ing form while
pointing to the pictures on the board.
Then Ill ask the students to choose one character from a box containing the already
mentioned ones and some more. There will be a green tick and red cross with the activity
folded behind the picture. Ill ask them to try to make a sentence using the ing form
accordingly.
Me: Its your turn now. I need some volunteers.
Me: Please, come to the board, choose a character.

Production
Ill say: Ok. That was very good. Now, open your folders and write the date. Ill clean the
board. Then Ill say: This is what you have to do, showing one sample of the following
activities and Ill hand in the rest of them, one to each student.
Ill ask them to stick them in their folders.
You have to find ing forms on the word search and then complete the sentences.
After some minutes, Ill ask the volunteers to come to the board mark the ing forms and
complete the sentences. The word search and the sentences will be already stuck on the
board.
Once this first exercise is checked, Ill explain the second task: You have to put the words
in order and match them with the pictures.
