ASSIGMENT 3 TITLE:
Complete an assessment of your school and facilities. Include an analysis of the facilities at your
school and any areas that may pose safety issues. Consider how safety would be emphasized
during events that are being held at your school.
1. Introduction
To create a conducive school climate, a good and health hazard free school facilities are
the major factor to achieve these goals. Facilities and infrastructure is defined as the basic
equipment, buildings, rooms, playgrounds, the fields, the courts, and the hall which is used for
teaching and learning activity at the school. The school good and well manage infrastructure and
facilities are considered important because without a proper and adequate good infrastructure and
facilities, the teaching and learning activity will be less effective.
The imperfect and unsightly conditions of the school facilities and infrastructure will severely
interfere with the effectiveness of the activity or events because it will greatly impose a health
hazard and safety issues to the participants of the activity and events conducted.
The importance of safety issues for the infrastructure and facilities of the school is the main
important procedure which can create a good surrounding for students and teachers in managing
any events or activity in school, for example, students can learn and practice the skills in a health
hazard free environment. Teachers also can give practical teaching aids, materials and
equipments and using the facilities with ease because it is in a good conditions and pose a
minimum risk to the students involved in the activity or events conducted by the teachers.

2. Assessment and Analysis of the facilities at SMK Wira Penrissen

My school, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Wira Penrissen also have an infrastructure


and facilities that include amenities and special rooms for the purpose of organizing an events or
activity that lead to learning development. My school population enrolments is around 1834
students and 129 teachers. Below is the assessment and analysis of the facilities of my school.

Base on the assessment and analysis of the school facilities above, all parties in the school
must play a role on how the school should maintain and improve the facilities that are there in the
school surrounding so that it can be used to the optimal with the minimal risk to safety of the
students and teachers when organizing any events in the school. There are many factors that can
lead to safety issues when we organized any events in the school. The most important safety
factor that we should consider when organizing an events in school are to prepare a plan to
reduce vulnerability and risks that include the structural safety of the facilities used, the nonstructural safety such as the equipments used, the local infrastructure safety such as lifeline
utilities, communications, and transportation safety, and the environmental mitigation safety that
addresses ambient conditions such as temperature, inundation, hazardous materials, and climate
change impacts.

ASSIGMENT 4 TITLE:
After your assessment write a sport and physical education first aid policies and procedures
protocol for your school.

Safety Operating Procedure (SOP) Sports Store, Physical Education Teaching and Learning
in Classroom and Outdoors.
1. Borrowing and Use of Sports / Physical Education Equipments (Sports Store)
(Reference to Education Circular Letter No. 9/2000)
All school staff using the sports / Physical Education equipments are liable for:

1.1 General Procedure.


1.1.1 Equipment that is considered for dangerous sports:
Ensure that all physical education activities / sports training using equipment that is
dangerous held on separate days or hours.
Hazardous equipment shall be stored, handled and use be monitored at all time.
Sports / Physical Education equipment must be placed in a special place that is easily
taken
by the PE teachers or the Coach only.
Record all the equipment borrowed from sports store in the Sports / Physical Education
Equipments Borrowing Record File.
Return all the sports / physical education equipments borrowed at the time specified.
Ensure that all sports / physical education equipments used in a safe condition and
enviroment.
Make a report to the sports store management and the school administrators if the used
sports / physical education equipments is damaged, lost or needs to be repaired.
2. Procedure for Students:
Students may not enter into the sports store without teacher permission.
2.1 Procedure for the Management / Coaches / PE Teachers:
Record all the sports / physical education equipment used.
Release, distribute, maintain and inspect equipment used.
Monitor closely the use of the equipment especially the dangerous equipment.
Ensure that sports / physical education equipment used in good condition.
Make a statement and report about the equipment if damaged, lost or needs to be
repaired.
Ensure that only the coach / qualified PE teacher to handle the sports equipment.
3. Sports Equipment:
(Reference to Education Circular Letter No. 9/2000)
The Administrator, Instructor, Coaches and PE Teachers are responsible for:
3.1 General Procedure:
Sports / Physical Education equipment
Sports / Physical Education equipment must be safe and suitable for use.
Sports / physical education equipment must have the standards code and legal
recognition
of sports associations.
Equipment that is no longer safe to be used shall be disposed of in accordance with
established procedures.
3.2 Procedure for Students.

Reporting to the teacher if there is any damage to the equipment used.


Always use the equipment with care.
3.3 Procedure for the Management / Coaches / Teachers.
Ensure sports / physical education equipment is safe and properly use.
Ensure sports / physical education equipment has standard code and legal recognition of
sports associations.
Equipment that is no longer safe to be used should be disposed of in accordance with
established procedures.
Take immediate action on reports of damage to equipment.

4. Sports Facilities / Sport Field / Court / Physical Education Activities Area


(Reference to the Education Circular Letter No. 9/2000)
The Administrator, Instructor, and PE Teacher are responsible for:
4.1 General Procedure:
Areas of training, games, activities, physical education or sports are in good condition,
secure, safe and manageable.
4.2 Procedure for Students:
Comply with the rules and instructions of teachers at all times.
Do not do any activities or be in the hall, sport field, and courts without close supervision
of
teachers.
Making sure that the equipment and personal safety is the highest priority.
Maintain cleanliness at all times
Make a report to the teacher about any damage to the facilities or equipment.
Only students involved in activities should be in the area of training, games and physical
education activities.
4.3 Procedure for the Management / Coaches / PE Teachers.
Making sure that all training, games, and physical education activities area and the
equipment use are in good condition, manageable and secure.
Do not allow students to be in any sports facilities area without close supervision of
teachers.
Take immediate action to make a report about any damage occurred at the facilities.
Ensure that students always comply with regulations and directives.
Ensure that students are engaged in activities that are only suitable in the sports facilities
area.
5. Protected Areas:

Administrators, Coaches, and PE Teachers are responsible for:
5.1 General Procedure.
The restricted area are the school hall, the playing field, the training field, the courts, and
the sport store.
5.2 Procedure for Students.
Do not be in the restricted area without close supervision of teachers.
Ensure that the safety of the facilities and equipment in the facilities are guaranteed.
Comply with the rules and instructions of teachers.
Maintain cleanliness at all times.
Make a reports about any damage in the facilities or injury occur to the management /
teachers.
Only students who engage in activities in the restricted area with close supervision of
Teachers are allowed in the facilities.
5.3 Procedure for the Management / Coaches / PE Teachers.
Ensure that there is no student is in a restricted area without close supervision of
teachers.
Ensure that students adhere to the regulations and directives.
Ensure the area is in good condition, manageable and safe to use.
Ensure the equipment use are in a safe condition.
Take immediate action on the report submitted by the student and make a records.
Provides a qualified officer in first aid / first aid box for the activities carried out in the area.
Provide treatment room for all the activities carried out in the area.
Provide treatment room is a must during any events at the facilities.
6. Weather / Climate Change
(Reference to the Education Circular No. 9 / 2000)
All school staff are responsible for:
6.1 General Procedure.
Do not carry out activities in the open during inclement weather such as rain, lightning and
thunder.
Stop the activity when there are signs of impending bad weather.
6.2 Procedure for Students.
Do not stand in the open or in areas exposed to danger during bad weather.
Stop immediately after receiving instruction from the teacher to do so.
Comply with rules and regulations.
7. Report of Accident or Injury.

Coaches, teachers, and PE teachers are to be responsible for:
7.1 General Procedure.
Report any accident or injury occurred to the management and make a complete reports
of
the incidents.
Make an investigation into the accident and injuries.
Record all types of accidents and injuries.

7.2 Procedure for Students.


Report all types of accidents or injuries incurred while participating in activities to
management / teachers.
Students must notify their health history before participating in any physical activities..
Students should report any unhealthy activities undertaken by their peers in the facilities to
the school administration through teachers. For example, drug abuse and others.
7.3 Procedure Management / Coach / PE Teachers.
Take immediate action on the report made by the students.
Make an investigation into the accident or injury occurred.
Record all types of accidents and injuries.
