Hi Bob,
Here are "before" and "after" photos of me and my lovely wife Renee. The wedding
photo was taken on April 4, 1965. The more recent photo was taken in 2013 in
Switzerland (that's the Alps in the background). We were visiting our daughter, her
husband and our grandchildren. They lived abroad for 10 years before returning to
America for good (hopefully) in June 2014

Dear HixNews
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
It is good to know that 70 is now
the new 50. In my mind, I'm still
39 but the face and body in the
mirror is an image of my father.
How did that happen? Thanks
again and keep up the great
work with the HixNews. Regards
Steve Baum1962
Thank you for the card, and thinking of us. Our best gift
was the return of electricity after 3 days!.

Thanks so much, Bob! Thank you too
for the anniversary card - haven't
looked yet as I'm waiting for my
husband to get home and look at it
with me. Your thoughtfulness is
always appreciated - feels like a little
bit of Hicksville connection again!

Hi Bob
You and the gang at HixNews are doing a great job.
Does anyone go to Smokey Bones anymore? The
many get togethers there were nice.
Best regards,
Beth Mangani Knipfing
You know what the rock is? The Rock of Gibraltar, of
course, and that was Dennis Naso. Dennis was the
father of our class and the catalyst that got anything
and everything done. You can't have a Smokey Bones
without someone to set it up, get in touch with people
and put on the finishing touches. Not for nothing, if
you want to have a get together, send an email to our
class and pick a place. Can be something close to
Hicksville or in Hicksville. Get in touch with Bill Walden
who is Commander of the VFW Post in Hicksville
waldenusmc@aol.com
They do parties and mini reunions. Find out how
much it would cost for an open bar say from 7 to 11.
Say you would like to not have a cocktail hour.
A buffet style dinner and ask that he give you choices
of food. How many people would be a minimum???
Figure your costs and put out a price. Then you can go
to your class and find out who would be interested.
I'm sure if you contact Mary O, Vinnie Luna or Diana
Urena, you could get help.
Let me know.
love yah bob
P.S. I did 3 reunions for the USS Liberty at the Washington Hotel in DC. It's around the corner from the
White House. That was a lot of work but a small scale
of your class and other classes would not be a big
deal.
Julia,
If you're on a slower Internet connection, it can take a
while to load the whole thing. Try re-loading. It looks
OK here up North.

Hi Hixnews Staff,
I tried to open the NEW April issue and it was last
months issue March 2015? Please advise por favor'.
Is there a problem? Thanks for your help as I look
forward to each and every issue.
Regards and Happy Easter 2015
Mark Leon [Class of 1965]
Mark,
It's the usual case of having to clear your computer's
cashe, to remove last month's link. Either that or you
can simply use the specific link to the April issue that is
in my monthly announcement.
Best, Henry
Try it again. The redirect needed to be updated.

Hello all,
Marty and I love going over the Hix News every month
and we understand what time and effort it takes to pull
it all together. It was
always fun to get a
birthday and anniversary greeting from you
every year, but last
November, when it
came time to see my
birthday listed, it wasn't
there..... nobody was
there so I thought it
just a glitch and
laughed.
Marty asked me to
check in March for his, being that he turned 70 and he
thought, boy, I should be hearing from some old friends
from Hicksville. It wasn't listed! So, I am asking to have
you put us back on your lists please. It's not a big deal,
but we love seeing our friends and classmates listed, so
why not us too. LOL

Thank you and I want you to know how much all your
hard work is appreciated.

p.s. Thank you for the card, and for thinking of me. It was
much appreciated. Turning 70's not so bad!

The problem unfortunately is the same problem we have
when many people retire and or change their email address
and cannot remember
who to send the address
change to. My email is
one I've used for years
and my mailing list is
extensive. I actually have
a chart of those on my
email list and can advise
of a change quickly.
We have yours and
Marty's email address on
our master list as
(concealed).
I actually addressed a card to you for March but was
notified by Birthday Alarm that the email was not valid. We
had the dianne@mdremodelinginc.com on the birthday
alarm account.
We now have your current email address and can update
our files. Should you change in the future, remember to
remind us!!!!

EDITORS NOTE
Dear Classmates
I'm getting a lot of throwbacks with a note that the email address I'm sending to is no longer valid.
As you well know, I do send an anniversary and birthday card to everyone on the HixNews and my
personal mailing lists. I can search a wide array of sights that can help me find the lost souls... Email
Finder... Spokeo... Ancestry. What I'm asking of the readership is to please send me an email letting
me know the city and state where you currently live. You can provide an address but that isn't totally
necessary.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Bob,
I was browsing the latest HIXNEWS Passages section of
the Newsletter and I came across the name Sahadachny. The last time I heard that name was over fifty
five years ago. It was the fall of 1960 and my friend John
Goodell and I were attending school at California
Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, California. Registration
was in a few days and we were finishing up lunch at a
drive in restaurant. We were in Johns 55 Ford convertible with the top down and the fellow next to us asked
for the time. We told him, in our best New York, to
which he responded, where in New York are you guys
from? Our response was, Hicksville. With that, he
spun around and said you gotta be kiddin me. He too
was from Hicksville, and joined us in the back of Johns
car. His name was Dick Colosanti. We exchanged names
of people we might have known and one of the names
that he mentioned was Victor Sahadachny. I told
Dick that I knew of Victor, and that he lived in our neighborhood. Victor was a bit older than we were, but he
had a younger brother who we played baseball with.
Once again, 3,200 miles from our beloved Hicksville, we
run into someone from our home town. Dick turned out
to be a good person to know as he was a DJ at one of
the local radio stations in San Luis. We had an open

Hey Buff
Enjoy and appreciate efforts put into The Newsletter
each month. I was compelled to do some research

was of Italian descent. Most bios show him as British
or Scot. Source of your info?

A note to Bob
http://www.st-patricks-day.com/about_saintpatrick/
According to different versions of his life story it is said that
he was born in Britain, around 385AD. His parents Calpurnius
and Conchessa were Roman citizens living in either Scotland
or Wales. As a boy of 14 he was captured and taken to Ireland
where he spent six years in slavery herding sheep. He returned
to Ireland in his 30s as a missionary among the Celtic pagans.

Henry,
LOL. Reminds me of an old joke...
A Russian scientist and a Czechoslovakian
scientist had spent their lives studying the
grizzly bear.
Each year they petitioned their respective
governments to allow them to go to Yellowstone
to study the bears. Finally their request was
granted, and they immediately flew to
Yellowstone.
They reported to the ranger station and were
told that it was the grizzly mating season and
it was too dangerous to go out and study the
animals.
They pleaded that this was their only chance,
and finally the ranger relented.
The Russian and the Czech were given portable
phones and told to report in every day. For
several days they called in, and then nothing
was heard from the two scientists.
The rangers mounted a search party and found
the camp completely ravaged, with no sign of
the missing men. Following the trails of a male
and a female bear, they finally caught up with
the female. Fearing an international incident,
they decided they must kill the animal to find
out if she had eaten the scientist. They killed
the female and opened the stomach to find the
remains of the Russian.
One ranger turned to the other and said, "You
know what this means, don't you?" The other
ranger responded...
"I guess it means the Czech's in the male."
