So happy to spend a few days with my two cuties.

They are such a joy to be around

Thanks for the birthday card…

Thank you. That’s very nice.

It was 60 years ago when our eyes first met. One glance & I knew you were the one. On
this day May 4, 1963 we pledged our love. We would have celebrated our 58th wedding
anniversary today. We probably would play a round of golf & then a romantic dinner just
the 2 of us. We made it through the hungry years & with determination & hard work we
enjoyed the fruits of our labors. God blessed us with 3 beautiful daughters & 4 precious
grandchildren. You made me whole. Now I’m half. My love for you will never die
because love never dies. You were my man, my perfect man.

Some thoughts About Birthdays &

Anniversaries…
Today, May 1, we have celebrated our 56th Anniversary!!! In good times and bad, in
sickness and in health, loving each other and weathering any storms. Commitment,
loyalty, and faithfulness, and love all are included in those 56 years.
Love you, John and Barbara DeBella Dowd 1962, always and forever...

happy to receive a special birthday card.

Hi, Robert…Thank you for the card, and for thinking of me. It was much appreciated.
Best birthday...that would be all of them. Each year brings a new memory. Last year was
probably my best one as it was also the year that I celebrated 50 years as a Sister of the
Immaculate Heart of Mary. Don't know where those 50 years went, but they were good to
me. Stay safe and healthy.

Hi, Robert...and the gang at HixNews. Thank you for the card, and for thinking of me. It
was much appreciated. I wish I had a special birthday story to share with you but I'm
lucky to remember what I did last week!

Flashback

Hi "Buffalo Bob"…Thanks for your shout out. Patience understandably I just

didn't want it to "SHUFFLE OFF TO BUFFALO" seeing it hadn't been done
in March 2021 issue.
Now I can understand as you say you work on hixnews.com everyday with
many graduates and I personally thank you and the hixnews.com staff. Keep
on keepin' on my friend and be safe!
My wife and I just got our 2nd Covid 19 vaccine with hopes that we see some
kind of normalcy in the not-too-distant future.
Best always,

Mark Leon [Class of 65'}

Hi Editor's at Hixnews.com
Please find my TWO email requests I've sent to "Buffalo Bob" twice to be
added and updated and would appreciate your taking care of this for me as it
pulls at my heart strings and means a lot to me. It was supposed to be
added/updated in the March issue and as yet has not been done. Please advise
me it's taken care of and thank you for years of keeping HHS always at the
forefront in our minds and hearts of us proud graduates.
Sincerely,
Mark Leon [Class of 1965}

Hi Buffalo Bob,
Mark Leon here in LA HHS Class of 65'. See my original email to you on Feb
2nd, 2021 and your response back to me. I just opened the March 2021 issue
of hixnews.com and my request was NOT taken care of. See my email to you
about sister Beth Leon which should have been added to class of 1970
memorium with the date of April 1967 next to her name. I also requested you
add Bob Rosenfeld to the Class of 1965 in memorium page. For whatever
reason this was not done so I'm reaching out to you again for your assistance.
Please let me know these two people will be remembered in the April 2021
issue of hixnews.com. Thank you for understanding how important this is to
me. All my best and thanks to you and the staff in keeping HHS in
hixnews.com to all our cherished graduates and their perspective families.

Hi Buffalo Bob…Thanks for getting back to me in a timely manner. Yes 1967

was the year passed away at fourteen years old so her HHS graduating class
would have been 1970 five years my junior. Please remember Beth Leon is
my sisters REAL LAST NAME only used last name Leibowitz in school.
**Also, I forgot to mention best friend Bob Rosenfeld Class of 65' had passed
away some years back. Please ADD Bob Rosenfeld to MEMORIAM class of
1965. So sorry I should have mentioned both of these names to you before. Oh
well better too late than not at all. U know what they say "THE MEMORY IS
FIRST TO GO", or is it?.
lol/LMAO ya gotta laugh right....

Hope you and yours are safe n' sound. My wife and I are getting our FIRST
Covid 19 Vaccines tomorrow. Here's to a LUCKY 21 that is a LUCKY 2021
to everyone. Again, thanks for taking care of both names for me. Keep
swingin' for the fences!

Mark…I will add Beth to the In Memoriam for the class of 1970. So sorry for
your loss. You ask me to put 1967 next to her name. What is the significance
of putting 1967 next to he name? I'm thinking that might be the year that Beth
died. Let me know when you have a moment. Muchas gracias. Buffalo Bob

Dear Editor's…I wonder if you can do me a favor por favor. My REAL last
name is “LEON” but I used the last name Leibowitz in Junior High/HHS
because my Mom remarried and felt children can be cruelly: How come your
last name is LEON and your Mom and Dad are Leibowitz. Mom and her
husband suggested. Reason for this email my Sister Beth Leon known at
Dutch Lane and Hicksville Junior High passed away from Cancer 'Leukemia
at the tender age of fourteen. Beth would have been in the class of HHS of
1970 five years my junior. Beth was a brilliant student, fun loving friend, and
a great sister. I've seen in the memorial section Robert Flashenberg who
unfortunately was killed by a car as we were to meet in 1961 that day.
Since Robbie was memorialized under class of 1965 could you please as I
want to pay homage to my sister Beth Leon, add her name to the class of 1970
as real name Beth Leon known as Beth Leibowitz and put next to her name
1967. This is not only for me Beth's brother but the dear friends around Arbor
Lane Beth had...Thank you again for a superlative job each month for years
and keeping our beloved Hicksville alive! Please respond and let me know
you were able to help. All the best for a better 2021
Regards,
Mark Leon
